Goodbye to 2009!

Last day of 2009!
And here I sit drinking spiced rum and egg nog! Hey, the egg nog expires tomorrow, and you know I don't drink ANY dairy product after its due date!

Reflecting on the last year.....I don't think I have any regrets.

I do have some pictures to put in though!

The purple Christmas card! It's a gift card holder.

It's also a purse shape, so was a big hit!

I tried to get a good pic of the Christmas tree. Which will probably be coming down tomorrow!

I like milti colored twinkling lights, so was hard to get a great picture!

I stayed home from work today, because I have a cold....and you know everyone is still paranoid about H1N1.
I was fine with it! I'm just tired! Needed a rest, and I should've taken the tree down today, but I worked on some tags for a swap I'm in! No deadline yet, but I'll be ready! I will be making one more tag yet tonight!

Shadow's feeling waaaay better!
She only has 48 hours left of her anti biotics.
Spencer came to play with her last Monday night, and she aqctually played with him instead of laying in her house, or growling at him!

My craft room is coming along! I'll post pictures of it, as soon as it's cleaned!
I AM using it, and it's a lot more functional than it was.
Last weekend I was in there, and DH was watching The Sound of Music in the living room, and I was watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in my craft room. I had to come out a few times to tell him that his TV was really loud!

I don't have much to say for the last post of the year....Just maybe....Stay safe, and have a great 2010!

Ta ta for now!

Merry Christmas Eve

Yippy skippy! I'm done work at the OFH until Tuesday.
We went for the annual light drive last night, and it didn't take us very long.....people didn't have their lights on......OH YES...I could see them, they weren't turned on!
I do have pictures of the Christmas tree etc. and I will go take a pic of my Snow couple outside. Will have to make a minute to post them!
I have more book material!

Yesterday Santa came to help with the residents gift exchange.
One of the residents wasn't in the dining area, so Santa & I went to her room.
I knocked on the door and said, "Someone's here to see you."
She snarled, "Well....SEND HIM IN."
So I did.
The smile on her face was priceless!
She said, "SANTA!"
He said, " I bet this is the first time you've ever invited Santa into your room!?"
She, "Why yes it is."

hahaha

Our Christmas on Sunday was a blast!
Good food, good friends, family...that's all you need!
I think everyone was happy, and fun was had by all.

Then Monday night we had movie night.
We watched "The Hangover."
It WAS pretty funny!

Now I'm home, got the vacuming & laundry done.
I'm drinking spiced rum & eggnog! Life is good!
Might even go flop on the couch!

Shadow's feeling better.
Yesterday she even ran for a minute, and today she's laying on the step, on top of the rugs I threw out to shake when I vacumed!
I figure she can lay there all day if she wants.
Can you say SPOILED MUTT!
Already fed her the liver pill!
Yesterday she spit it out, but I made her eat it!
She's got antibiotics for 21 days, liver pills for a month, and a liquid for on her food until it's gone!

Not planning on doing too much tomorrow!
My craft room is almost functional!
V brought me another piece on Sunday...have to put that together....then there'll be no stopping me!
And I do have some ideas for my Christmas cards for next year...that's right, I make them after Christmas so they're done.
I also joined a Tag Exchange on the Fiskateers site.
My mom got me a gift certificate to Michaels.......Have I mentioned that she's an enabler!?

And then....earlier this month the bank took 2...TWO payments out of my account to cover a couple of DH's payments. We have weird money issues in this house. There are things I pay for, and things he pays for, but someone in this household doesn't work steady. We both have our own accounts.
So I was upset about the first payment....and went balistic over the second one.
I'm closing that account. Just not gonna put any money in it, and then 6 months or a year from now the bank will call and say, "Your account hasn't been active and we're going to close it."
And that will be fine with me.
I also bank with the other bank in town.
I had told K about it, because I was worried that the vehicle insurance, which comes out monthly....wouldn't!
I said, "That's a lot of money in December." ( For some reason, Christmas is one of the things I pay for....food, presents, cards...you get the picture)
K said, "Is that why we didn't have salad with our meal on Sunday?"
I said, "Yea, cause I couldn't afford it!"
Isn't he just a smartass?

When I got home from work, the bank had called, and I was supposed to call back.
Oh Oh, I thought. They're on to me, and want to make things miserable!
I called, and actually got the lady that called here and left the message.
Me: "Hi this is Gail!" (Small town, I can just say that!)
Her: "Oh, thanks for calling! How's your Christmas so far?"
Me: "We had Christmas on Sunday, so I'm done, the pressure's off!"
Her: "It's not quite done."
Me: "HUH?"
Her: "You bought one of the donation squares for our fund raiser, and you won the Grand Prize!"
Me : "No way!?"
Her: "Yup, you won the $500.00! And if you're in town before 3:00 pm you can pick it up."
Me: "I just got home, so I won't be coming to town until...."
Her: " We're open Tuesday. Do you want us to put it in your account so you can spend it?"
hahahahaha
How ironic is that!?
Me: "No, I'll pick it up Tuesday....Thanks a LOT!"

Isn't life funny sometimes!?
And I'm still closing that account!

Ta ta for now!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Ok, not really, but we're having ours today, as V should be here shortly!
She said she should be home in the morning...hahahahaha!

So far today, I've done the laundry, vacumed, dishes, got the bird stuffed and in the oven, laid on the kitchen floor and took the filter out of the dishwasher and cleaned it.....and gave Shadow her medication!

Shadow & I went to PR yesterday to finish our shopping, get groceries, etc., and she went to the vet!
That's how sick she is.....she GOT IN THE CAR!

I was up at 4:30 am, I know, I know.......to check on her.
She was out of her house, so I ran in and got her harness.
Her harness makes it easier to control her when we go for  a walk.
Well, she lets me think I'M in control when we go for a walk!

At 9:00 am, I called the vet. They asked if I could have her down at 10:30 or 10:45.
I told them I'd try.....so took Shadow's leash outside, and called her, like I was going to take her for a walk.
I lied to the dog to get her in the car!
She came right over to the car....I lifted her front legs in, and give her a push.
I KNOW she's sick, cause she didn't put up a fuss at all!
She was a little unsettled, but once we got going, she just laid on the seat.

So, after a million $$$$'s worth of bloodwork, and an exam, we got a gazillion $$$$'s worth of medication.
Her liver enzymes and stuff were all wonky......maybe she got into something she shouldn't have....I was close with the poison.
I can't believe one of our asshole wonderful neighbors would put poison close to our fence line......we have 160 acres, Shadow doesn't go that far! She has a big yard to look after.

I'm hoping whatever it was, made her sick right away, so she'll associate feeling crappy to whatever it was!
She's feeling a little better. I heard her bark 2 times today, and she's actually spending some time outside her house!

I wanted them to give her shots while I had her there, but, as with people, they don't like to give them if your animal is sick! So next month I'll try to get her in the car again so she can get her shots, and get spayed. I'm just worried that I won't have as easy time!

I got my grocery shopping done while she was at the vets, but she had to come with me to WalMart, Dairy Queen, and get gas! OK, so she stayed in the car.

I was supposed to go to a staff party last night, and had full intentions of going. I even had my $20 gift wrapped up, then Shadow got sick.
We didn't get home until later in the afternoon, and I wanted to get some stuff done....like a good handle on supper for tonight, so when everyone gets here I can sit around and do nothing too!

K called to see if he could bring friends, for supper......I figure the more the merrier!
I'm wondering how long I have to wait to mix myself one of my new favorite drinks!?

Not long I bet...I hear a vehicle! Gotta go.

Ta ta for now!

Blue Friday

I think it's really Black Friday or maybe it's Black Sunday, but what ever!
My dog Shadow is outside in her dog house trying to die.
Really.
I'm not being flippant, I'm really heart broken, which is why, tomorrow morning, my son and I are going to wrestle her into the car and take her to the vet.
It's Winter....even though it's above (barely) 0 degrees, my knees are soaking wet, and I'm freezing, from kneeling in front of the doghouse door, trying to coax her to eat or drink, or even come out and play.
She won't.
Or can't......
I just don't know what's wrong.
This is the dog, that's a Great Pyrenese/Collie cross.
The one who never grew into her feet (poor girl), and weighs about 70 lbs.!
And WILL NOT get into a vehicle if her life depended on it!
Well I think it might, so tomorrow she's getting into the car!
I was planning on going to PR anyway....we'll just plan a little side trip to the vet!
Yayyyyy, just what I wanted, but you know....I really like that dog!
I'm hoping it's something little, like maybe she has pnumonia, or has something stuck in her throat. Something easy to fix, and when I get the bill for a million dollars I'll feel like, Gawd....I coulda fixed that myself!
I tried getting her to open her mouth, but she wasn't having any of that!
I warmed her up some sausages, and some milk, because I thought, maybe someone poisoned my dog!?
And after I poisoned the last one....hey hey hey......not intentionally! (*and she lived!)
Anyhooo....I remembered that I had to give her as much milk as she wanted to drink.
But Shadow won't....or can't.
She moves her head, but that's about it.
Maybe someone shot her....damn hunters.
You know the ones I mean.
To me it's legally dark, to them it's like "OMG I think I saw something move." BLAM BLAM BLAM
I'm thinking most of them are pretty poor shots, or they have an awful lot of tags to fill!
But, I digress.
Shadow's been in her house for 2 days now, I miss her jumping at me....sometimes I move at the last minute, and she gets mad!
Sometimes, I don't hear her coming and move soon enough. She's gonna knock me down and I'm gonna break a hip!
She's a solid mutt!
I miss her following me around, and putting the run on her pets.....the cats....all 7 of them. At least there were, maybe some are coyote lunch by now.
Hey, it's a control issue. Mother Nature and all that!?
All our animals are outside animals.
We had a yappy cockapoo for 10 years, until we moved to the farm, and Ray let her out, and she never came back.
Well, it's time for me to go check on the pooch.
I really want her to make it!
I wish in the morning she'd meet me on the step on my way to the pump house with my coffee.

Hell O

I'm getting a little slack at this....forgive me!
Just can't seem to get caught up! Doesn't help that it took 3 days to get the lights working on the tree and decorated!
I was finishing it Friday, whether all the lights worked or not!
They did, and it's done, and looking beautiful!

I went to the hairdresser yesterday.
Yes I go! Every 2 or 3 months, not nearly as often as I should!
We were talking about the gals at the OFH.
I told her about the Wednesday morning shopping fiasco!
I had about 8 ladies that morning.
I always ask them where they want to go.....some answer and some don't. (That would be the mind reading part of my job!)
The majority wanted to go to the Value Drug Mart.....2 wanted to go to the $ Store, and 1 wanted to go to the clothing store.
I park at the Drug Store. The lady that wants to go to the clothing store is standing on the steps.
Me, "Where are you going?"
She, "The clothing store."
Me, "I'll take you there."
She, "What?"
Me, "I'll take you there."
She, "What?"
(We are not even 2 feet apart.)
Me, "I'LL TAKE YOU THERE!"
She, "Don't shout at me like I'm one of your children, I'm a grandmother."
Me, "SIT DOWN!"

I get those 3 ladies safely delivered to the appropriate side of the street.
Let 2 ladies back in, and show them how the door works for the third, and run across the street to the local paper on an errand for another gal.

By the time I got back to the bus....I was gone maybe 5 minutes. The third gal, having finished at the clothing store, JAYWALKED across the street to the drug store!
Now, have you EVER seen an 80+ year old totter across the street...WITH A WALKER, and the main street is a major highway...think semis!

After all that, I go to Fields, when I ask "Who's getting off here?"
Only one answers.
I ask, as I need to know whos walker to get off.
Only 1 lady answers.
I go to unload her walker, and the clothing store lady is standing up.
Her walker's closest so I grab it.
Go back to unload the walker of  the only person to answer me that she was going in, and the clothing store lady had sat back down.
I see a second person get off the bus, as I reload Mrs. Clothing Store.
I then take the remaining ladies home, because they're finished, and go back to Fields for the 2 shoppers.
One is ready at the door, and I go in to find #2. She's just browing, so is ready.

1/2 an hour later, I'm toodling through the dining room, and one of the ladies said, "Did you know you forgot so&so at Fields?"
Me: "Didn't even know she got off the bus!"
And the thing was I had taken everyone else home, so there was no one to say...."What about so&so?!"

Can't say it's ever boring!

But you know you live in a small town, when a Fields employee drives your stray resident home! hahaha

My hair dresser says, "You should write a book."
"You always see the humor in the situations."
Me, " I have to!"

I wouldn't know where to start!

Would it be with the gentleman that used to come for the day, so his wife could have a rest?
He'd follow around whatever staff were passing by and demand, "When's my wife coming?"
He caught me one day and said, "Where's my wife?"
Me, "She's coming!"
Him, "So is Christ and no one's seen him yet."

Or would it be that every year they do a satisfaction survey.
My responses are in italics.
Out of 25 residents surveyed, I should have 23 active participants in exercises!
I have 11 or 12 on a GOOD day.
They're the kind of survey, that lists every painful comment; like one person wants to play horseshoes.
We need at least 2 to play, and you know what? GO PLAY!
One resident thinks the picnics are too tiring.
So ...... stay home!?
One resident wants different and challenging crafts.
They have no idea what they want to do, I've asked. They're in their 80's! What can they do?
One resident wants more cultural experiences.
We live a million miles from anywhere, and this person will not get on the bus!
Oh yeah it's anonymous, but you hear this shit enough times, you know who said it!
The dining room sometimes is too overdecorated.
I really don't know what to say here, exept is this all you have to worry about?
The living room is full of furniture.
Hello, I'm sorry about that...........refer to previous answer.

Do you see how this goes?!

There's no end, and everyone of the 50+ people living in our facility think they're the only one!
Hardly any of them know their neighbor, and oh crap brother, don't even get me started on the gift exchange for Christmas!

I'm busy getting things ready for next weekend, as that's when I'm cooking the bird.
V will be home, as she's working through Christmas, and going to a friends.
This might be the last time we're all together, as K leaves January 15th!

I'm also trying to get my latest storage cubes made, so that the desk in the craft room will be double the size, as I need to whip up one more Christmas card...... someone wants a purple one!
I sat in there last night, but the palm of my hand that had a blister from putting together 15 cubes was cranky (Read: another blister), so I just poked along and watched The Polar Express.
I only have one more cube to go....this round, but should get my butt in gear, cause I need to run to town.

Disaster

I want to recap the week!
I think if we were still having the week from hell contest....I would have won!

Monday I worked at my 'other' job, then went to a meeting.
Where; it was my turn to be the secretary!
(I got the minutes typed up and e-mailed today!)

Tuesday I had a meeting with the other Rec. Ass.es in Berwyn, then went grocery shopping for my party, and ran to WalMart.

Wednesday was WalMart day with my peeps, and then rush home to get everything ready for my party! And, once again it was a rousing success!

Thursday, I got up in the middle of the night, Heather met me here, and off we went to GP!
I HAD to get to Michaels before my 11:00 am appointment with the opthamologist.
The storage cubes I wanted were on sale for 55% off! And I had a coupon good for another 25% off, including sale items! That's 80% off!
We got there at 9:45, so I had to power shop!
I had one cart full, when an employee walked by and said, "You know you can't use your 25% off on that stuff hey?! It's a Doorbuster sale."
Like that explained everything! I said, "Do you know what time I got up to get here!?"
No where on the coupon or in the flyer did it exclude the treasures I wanted needed!
But, I didn't agrue....come on, 55% off!
V & I loaded 2 carts up, and went to the till.
There was a nice gentleman there ringing us through.
I turned to V and said, "How come you and I got this stuff up here in 2 carts, and he's putting it into 3?"
She said, "Mom...he's a guy."
We loaded all that into the trunk of my car, and she dropped me off at my eye appointment.

Now I must tell you that it was quite tropical that morning so I just wore a hoodie.
Of course the highway was sloppy from the slush and rain the day before, so I was careful not to touch the trunk of my car.
I was sitting at my appointment with the front of my coat wet. As it dried.....it turned to filthy mud!
Horrors! No wonder I had to sit there for 2 hours! No one wanted to help the filthy woman out front!
GAWD it was awful!

Friday, I went my 'other' job for a few hours. I was exhausted! I didn't want to spend 14 hours at the OFH, cause it was Happy Hour that night! I don't even have my calendar done, but I did get a newsletter finished, and talked to Santa! He's coming to the OFH on December 23!

Friday night, I started putting together my treasures from Michaels! And I finished them yesterday! I only have 1 huge blister on the palm of my right hand! 15 pieces, and I already told V I needed more!
I built......

And built.........

and built

and built.......and....nothin!

My pictures aren't showing up! They're just X's!

I'll have to try again tomorrow, or another day!

This is the craft room!

This is the living room.

I'm going to my 'other' job tomorrow, and then I have a meeting.
A supper meeting, but don't worry, I've got it all figured out!
And it'll be short!

It's taken me a LLLLOOOONNNGGG time for me to update 2 weeks ago!
I've since been to another Craft Night.

I'm hanging out at the library tomorrow night for Daddy & Me.
My house will start to look normal one of these days.
The blister on the palm of my hand from putting together 15 storage cubes is frinally going away!

I set them up, and need 10 or 11 more!
I'll have to take pics after Christmas, as we're having ours early, and I'm just putting the tree up!

The craft room has to stay a disaster until then!

Clean Sweep

Not really....just getting ready for the party on Wednesday!
3 more things to bake, and I'm callin 'er quits!
I've been cleaning everything in sight!
I've even got the fridge half cleaned!?
Who looks in there?
And does it matter anyway!?
I had Stamp Club on MOnday!
This is what we made!

A holder for gift tags.

Here's the gift tags!

And here!

And here they are all together!

Cool huh!
I think they're great!

The wild life is unreal on the side roads!

Sorry it's blurry, but I'm likening driving and taking pictures to texting and driving!!!
Probably shouldn't be done!

Got a busy week coming up!
Aren't they all?

'Other" job Monday, and a meeting at 4:30 pm.
Tuesday I have a meeting in Berwyn.
Wednesday is WalMart day for my peeps, and my party!
Thursday is my eye appointment in GP!
Friday I'd better have my calendar & newsletter done for the OFH, and It's Happy Hour!

I'll be sleeping for a week again when I'm done!

I also got my H1N1 shot on Thursday night.
My arm was pretty sore starting at 9:00 pm that night.
Yesterday I was cranky and irritable. I guess that's 'normal', and today I'm fine!
BUT, I can still get the swine flu!
There's no guarantees!
GAWD! I had to really talk myself into the shot, and just figured I'd put it off long enough!

Oh well....it's done!

Better go accomplish something else!
Laundry's done, and supper's in the bread machine and slow cooker!

Ta ta for now!

Suprised I Still Have My Sanity Saturday!

After a whirlwind last few days......It's good to be home!

I took Kalen to Edmonton on Wednesday, where he spent ALL day Thursday at the recruiting center at Canada Place!
He's in! He joined the Navy! He'll be going sometime in January!
I'm very happy for him!

Then Thursday night we left the city for RMH!
Where my mom was at my aunts' place.
We did the new WalMart at Sylvan Lake, the $ store in Rocky, and Kalen had an eye exam.
We visited there for 2 sleeps, then headed home today!

Just because I'm still in marathon bake & plan mode for my party!
Plus, I have to go to my 'other' job on Monday, and it's Stamp Club! Oh, and I think I have a meeting on Monday night too!

We stopped in PR for groceries, cause I don't like to shop local unless I HAVE to!

Then Vanessa called. She's not happy (to say the least) about her brother joining the Armed Forces.
I had to try and placate her, told her if "He's happy, I'm happy!" Just like with her.

It's very draining to have a child that's not happy! Makes me tired!

We should all just wish him the best! I'm sure he'll do fine! And we're all proud of him!

Monday Monday......

I've had a busy couple of days!
Saturday, Ray & I went to Jasons' to pick some stuff up.
Did I mention that  Vanessa, and her boyfriend Jason bought our house in town 5 & 1/2 years ago?
I don't think it's a good thing when someone you know really well buys your house.
You tend to leave things there!
But after Saturday, I decided that most of the stuff left, is Vanessas'!

I've also decided that when you break up with someone, you need to take your stuff!

I started the baking marathon yesterday!
I made Butter Cake, Double Fudge Cookies, Poppyseed Twinks, Pepper Jelly Tarts, a batch of Poppycock, and a batch of Peanut Brittle.
I did get the stuff ready for fudge, but that hasn't happened yet!

I worked at my 'other' job today for 8.5 hours, then wanted to move the furniture around in the living room.
Ray needed me to go out & help with the fence pieces he's hauling to the yard & taking apart.
It's the old fence from around the house in town.
Jason's putting up a chain link one, and the dump wouldn't take the wooden fence sections because it's painted.
It's all out of the field now, and in neat stacks by the woodshed.
The boards that are in really rough shape are going in the stove. It doesn't matter outside if we burn treated or painted lumber!

I only work tomorrow at the OFH, then have the rest of the week off!

woo hoo! Only I"ll be busy, not even any time for card makin' or scrappin'!

Better go, I'm feeling like pocorn tonight........eating it, not looking like it!

Ta ta for now!

I think It's Spring!

The weather the last 2 days has been awesome.
Read...above 0, and we're talking Celcius!

I'm home from town. Ray & I went to Jason's to take stuff out of the basement! 4 BIG keeper boxes, and about 1/2 a dozen bags for the garbage! Then we brought it home, and a dresser from the storage trailor went too!
I stopped at Kalens' to do a load of laundry!
And got groceries. Yes, broke my heart to shop locally! Almost needed to take out a loan!

Didn't go to my other job today.
I got up in the middle of the night to make some of my peeps at the OFH breakfast.
Not really, but I always tell them that. Our Breakfast Club comes to a halt in the summer, cause I can't tell them that I get up in the middle of the night to cook them breakfast, Because it's light almost all night!
Then I got off early, and went to my 'other' job yesterday!

D. looks waaay better than he did Monday!
I said, "Wow, you look a lot better!"
D., "I know, now I just look tough instead of beat up!"
He pressed charges. I think assault, but I'm not sure.
One of my friends that works at a helicopter place (when I dropped her Avon off yesterday) said one of her guys said, "The only way you'll get a punch in , would be to sucker punch D.!"

I wanted to share this pic with you!

I KNOW Halloween is over, and I AM putting my stuff away!
Just the candy bowls & buckets etc, are still out!
I made this a couple years ago. Well I didn't really make it.....I painted it!
My friend Peggy is proud of me, and my Aunt Alyce would be proud too, cause as you can see in the mirror I even painted the back!

Alrighty then....the annual Gail Luck Princess House party is set.
I was gonna skip this year, maybe have it in the Spring, cause I'm just soooo darn busy!
But people have even been calling the Princess House rep., and asking when my party is!
She told another friend of mine that I usually have a party in the fall.
So I booked a party from that friend!
It's an event on Facebook.
I think that says it all! And one of my friends said," You couldn't have it on a more perfect night!"
I said, "I know, I didn't want anybody whining cause they couldn't eat!"

Now I'm going to go and whip up some awesome appetizers etc. for the partay!

Ta ta for now!

Another hmmmmmm!

I wanted to have a relaxing evening at home!
I went over to Jason's to do some more laundry. He's out of town, and I'm the ex mother in law.
Well, we didn't break up with him (Ray & I)!
I only did that cause all the AVON wasn't in.
I brought home 3 bags of stuffed animals, the second load is in the washer now.
There IS one more!

I washed my car...cause you know from the ditch photos yesterday that it was MUDDY!
Now it's CLEAN, and I'm sure in the morning all my doors will be frozen shut!

So I DID get the campaign 25 books with the 1 box of AVON that I did get.
I'm going hmmmm over one item in there.
It's the set of 4 Angels on page 12.
I got the teens at the Library those Angels about 1 month ago for a Fundraiser!
Why would they put a fundraising item in the book?
It's the same price, but the kids make $4.50 off each one, getting it for their fundraiser!?
The fundraising item should be something not available anywhere else, so that if people want it, they have to get it from the group doing the fundraising!?!!! GAWD!
When I grow up, I want the fundraising, supervising, what ever it is, job at AVON!!!
So I had to fire up my computer, (and haven't been off of it since) to make more stickers to put on the pages, with the Library phone number!!!
Had to do that for the last Campaign too!

I'm having my annual Princess House Crystal Party.
I decided to fit it in!
People have been asking!
It's on a Weight Watcher night so that everyone can come and pig out!
I'll start baking this weekend! No one will know that I dug it out of the freezer!
November's a busy month for me!
When I was telling the manager at work what I was taking off......
I said, "I KNOW! I'm here forever, and all of a sudden I need the whole month off!"
It won't get any better next month either.....well I DO end up with a few more days off in December....maybe not, with Christmas so close to the weekend!

Scenic Route

You'll never guess what I did on the way to work this morning!

Yup, there I am...in the ditch!
Caught a rut, and it just tossed me over there!
Didn't see it coming!
Was only about 1/2 mile from the highway!
Wasn't even going fast.
Got on my phone (remember the day when you actually had to walk to the nearest farmhouse!?) and called Ray...actually I had to leave a message! "Hey I'm in the ditch by so & so's."
So I drank my coffee, took pictures and talked to Kalen on the phone!
Ray said, 'It's a good thing you weren't going fast or the snow might have tipped you over when you caught in the ditch."
Ray said, "Come on, I'll take you to work, I don't know where to hook onto your car, everything is plastic."
Note for next time...apparently you gotta hook onto the frame!

Hardly looks like I'm off the road hey!?
Well the front end was over, and that's where all the weight is!
Love how it flung me around! I'm facing the wrong way.
And I know my car needs washed!
It was muddy last week! Maybe I'll wash it tomorrow, poor thing!

That wasn't all that happened!
I WAS having an all right day!
Except for being in the ditch, but no one was hurt!

I went to get pop at the one and only grocery store in town, to fill the vending machine at work.
It belongs to the residents, and it's my job (?) to fill it....hey, I don't mind most days!
It was the cheapest, and least amount of work involved to raise money for the Residents Association.
So Coke products are advertised 2 for $8.00.
I get to the aisle, and by the COKE it says "Limit of 2 @ 2 for $8.00."
I look all down the shelf at the other Coke products, and that's the only place it says that. The rest of the signs are just 2 for $8.00.
So I get 2 cases of Coke, 5 Canada Dry, a Diet Root Beer, regular Root Beer and a Nestea or something.
My cart's full, I'm heading for the till.
I'm heading for till 2 where there's a smiling young gentleman, and out of nowhere swoops another teller in on her broom, yelling at me that there's a LIMIT of 2 on the 2 for $8.00. Like, of ALL the Coke products, you need to pick 2 kinds and that's ALL you're getting at that price!
Well, I got a little CRANKY then, because remember this is the NEW store, AND THEE ONLY grocery store in town, and they weren't gonna limit the stuff yadda yaddda yadda! I read the write up they had when it opened!
So I might have said a cuss word or two. I know I said, "Well then I'll take 2, I don't want the rest."
Cause really; I'm thinking, who wants to go put 8 cases of pop away!?
By this time, there are words exchanged.....I just decided I was bigger than the teller yelling at me, and all of a sudden she says, "How many do you have."
I said, "What?"
She said , "How many pop all together?"
I said, "10."
And she let me have them! AT THE SALE PRICE! ALL 10 OF THEM!
I told the residents I had to fight for their pop for the machine today!

Then it got better! We finished reaqding the story about Wop May today! It was pretty good!

Then this is what I got in the mail!

My HAPPY HALLOWEEN Banner! I know, it's after Halloween, and I'm missing an H, a P, and an N, but I was happy anyway! It's really amazing! A lot of work and thought into every letter! Don't forget we had to make 14 of our letters! See, there's my 'O's'!
OK, so it's not a great picture, but I'll be putting it away until next year, and working on the other letters!

I also got this in the mail!

A really cute Thank You card in Halloweeny colors, for the Halloween deprived girl I made the lantern for!
I also gave her a spider bucket full of candy! Might have told you that, consider where I work most of the time; I think it's catchy!
She was thrilled!
Gonna ask her if she made the card herself, cause her mom's the Stampin' Up lady!

I also went to Jason's after work to check on his place. He's working. Did the dishes (again) and I'm not done, and did 2 loads of laundry.
I KNOW....I'm a sucker for punishment! I'll stop again in the morning, and put another load in the washer, and the other stuff in the dryer! By the time he gets home, I should have his laundry done!

That's all I did for fun today, maybe tomorrow won't be so hectic!
What am I saying!? I'll have to sort AVON!

Hmmmmm

The human race will always make me go hmmmmm.
That's a big fat hmmmmm right there.
What are we racing for?
Is there a prize at the end?

Kalen's friend Kendra, got a job! So that's one less worry for her.
Remember earlier I had said that she didn't have on, and I told her it would work out, It did, and it was a job she wanted! I'm very happy for her!
Kalen also got his appointments set up for E-town!
Guess we get to go play with Sheila, Sandra & Jamie!

The weekends go so fast for me.
I'm trying to cut my other job down to one day a week....either Saturday or Monday, because I have a lot I want to do, and I get tired. Then I either get nothing done, or it's a marathon everything!
I was there for 5 or 6 hours Saturday, and 5 today!
I really need to get it to one 8 hour shift! I don't even mind going on Holidays in the middle of the week, which is what I'll do on November 11th if I don't go anywhere!
I did say I'd be back Saturday, only because all the time for payroll wasn't in.

I did make one card today....I need to make 3 or 4 more for my aunt.
I have a few pictures in my head, just need to find the stuff to make them a reality.....hence, the craft room, getting revamped!

When I got to my other job this morning, one of the guys had a black eye....not just the eye, the whole side of his face.
I said,"Were you talking when you should've been listening?"
He said, "Actually Gail, not this time."
He'd gone to the pub Saturday night (Halloween).
He was sitting on a bar stool, talking to a girl, and out of nowhere this girl's brother sucker punched him.
He said he didn't see him coming, doesn't know if it was because he was talking to his sister; he was a rodeo clown, maybe he didn't like the costume; there's a lot of maybes there!
The victim said he wasn't drunk, I asked about the other guy, and he said, "Probably."

I'll never understand how people act, or what makes them act the way they do.
What was to be gained?
Just sent the guy to the hospital an hour away for a cat scan. He has a broken cheek bone and a concussion.
And he's damn mad.
Doesn't know what to do about it....what would you do about something like that?
Revenge really isn't sweet, and will just get you into trouble.

I got a headache just looking at him, cause man it looked like it hurt.
He told me he's started some fights where he deserved to be beat up, "but not this time."
Should've told him I had some really GOOD painkiller type tranquilizers.
THAT'S another story, and we're not going there now!

On Friday, the girls at work were discussing who was moving in.
As you know, I work at a Seniors lodge, and there's always a rush to get in at first snowfall!
They were talking about 1 gentleman in particular.
One of the girls said, "He won't be moving in."
Other girl," Why not?'
"Because he's getting married on November 11."
I'm like, "WHAT?!"
Seems he's marrying one of the girls that work there.
I said, "OMG, when did they even date? She works nights all the time?!"
Anyhoo, it's none of my business, but wow!
I told the girls they were doing it wrong, and one of them told me, "I like my wrong!"

Fall Back!

I'm probably one of the few in the country....over 50, that wasn't affected by the extra hour sleep!
Can't do it, nada, not that I don't want to.....I just wake up early! If I can't go right back to sleep, I might as well get up! 5:55 am this morning.

I also started doing laundry when Ray got up (because he's fine with the extra hour!), and had no hot water.
He's mad. Why couldn't the thermo coupler on the hot water tank go yesterday? How come these things happen on Sunday. He says it accusingly, like it's my fault or something!
Told him it was Murphy's Law. He doesn't know what that is, so dropped it!
But this is our second one in 5 years!
He should be thankful though, casuse last year at this time we were replacing the water pump, and yes, it was a Sunday!

I've had a very productive day!
Made labels for Sheila. No, she didn't move, just a new address!
Made labels for the AVON catalogues, and printed off the invoices for AVON. It'll be in on Wednesday!
Helped Ray put a post in the back 40 for one of the gates to lean against, so it doesn't twist.
Just one thought always comes to mind when I do this: How come I'm the one that has to hold the post while he positions the bucket on the tractor over my head to push it in?
Remind me not to piss him off when he wants my help! hmmmmmm
Made a sour cream rhubarb pie, some shortbread cookies, cooked some bacon for B & T sandwiches, italian seseme bread (bread machine), roast, potatoes, fried cabbage.
Did 2 loads of laundry, after I got hot water!

Fed the cats, and took a picture of the wood shed, with more wood than it's ever seen in it's life!

And there's my snowblower, still out in the elements!
I'm not sure why the cement mixer is still in the way there either!
Ray said he still has about 5 trees down that he didn't get, but I guess we can get them in the Spring!

Now the dishes ( the pots) are soaking, and I'm too full for pie!
Guess I'll have it later.

Ta ta for now!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Happy Halloween everyone!
I've had 3 little Halloweeners, and that's probably all I'll get!
That's better than none, and makes me smile!
Plus, it's been getting pretty nasty out there! The wind is howling, and it's COLD!

The power must have went out last night at some point!
It wreaks havoc with the motion lights! I woke up to my clock flashing, and the yard lit up like an amusement park! Had to go out to the pump house and flip the breakers off, then on!

I LOVE my 'other' job on a Saturday!
Where else can you have Baileys with your coffee at 8:00 am? Well maybe camping!
Maybe I need to rethink the whole, "I can't do 8 hours Saturday and Monday thing!"
I was there until 12:30 pm.
Finished what I wanted to though, so will go back Monday!
I took the Martha Stewart witch lantern, and it was a big hit!
I'll let you know if the fake candle is still 'burning' Monday morning!

Happy hour at the OFH was busy last night.
Only Stella dressed up.....I tell ya, they're a bunch of party poopers!
I made a survey type thingy for my newsletter this time. I want to know what they want to do!
I only have one signed up, so far to go to Berwyn next Wednesday.

All I did when I got home was try to nap.
Didn't work though.
Only because I was trying to download the software for my scanner, and decided in order to not have it cancel or time out, I had to be on the computer.
I really would rather have had a nap!

It snowed a couple inches last night.
I didn't get to fire up the snow blower though, cause it was too warm and the snow was slushy! I didn't feel like throwing water!

I really hope to make some cards tomorrow!
I got all my treasures from the last Stamp Club!
Haven't used a darn thing yet!
I have an idea for a few cards.

I'm going to make supper, and a rhubarb pie, and some cookies.
I think I have a bucket of cookie dough left from the Play School fundraiser.
And speaking of fundraisers. We had a Silent Auction at the Library, and I bought something. Not sure what, Ray's not the best message taker. Even he said, "I should have had her call back and leave a message on the machine."!

I'm reading The Golden Compass, have I already mentioned that?
If I did, just chalk it up to where I work, and that it's catchy!  I didn't know that it was part of a trilogy!
But I do now, and told the Library to order in the next 2 for me to read. I'm liking it.

Better go. Talk to you again.

Ta ta for now.

Martha Stewart Marathon Crafting is Over!

Done!
I'm done 4 lanterns....1 of which I gave away today, and the other 2 are going to their homes tomorrow!
The witch will come with me on Saturday!

Aren't these just the coolest!

I'm lovin them!

Only took 3 nights, and a do over of one.
Hey people! Different sized frames.....so some of the pictures were different sizes!
And I really should be getting ready for bed instead of chatting with you!

Because I was Pissed Off angry at my peeps for not wanting to go to the Halloween party, I finished decorating today, and did up my newsletter and calendar.

Some times at work while I'm playing working on said newsletter and calendar on my computer, the little dialogue box on my e-mail starts flashing cause someone's sent me a message.
Now I have all my stuff set to 'busy' or 'offline' cause most of the time I really am! Well not offline so much, cause as long as my computer's on, I'm connected! I often get back to my computer with the little tabs flaching and someone going; "Are you even there!?"
Todays ims went like this:

D: "What are you doing?"
Me: "Calendar & newsletter."
D: "Do a good job with that. Hey do you know the password for (make something up here...like I'm gonna tell you!)
Me: "Isn't it on the password sheet?"
D: "Not in the one I sent you. Where's the password book?"
Me: "I don't know, but mine are on my desk on the left. Did you look in the file? It's an odd one, it's atmq something something."
D: "I got the file and it doesn't work, don't worry about it, I faxed them a letter asking for it."

A few minutes later.

D: "They sent a letter back saying you were the boss and could give it to me. Could you stop here after work?"
Me: hahahahahaha, really!? Yeah I can.

Another few minutes.

D: "What's your pets name and your first & last initial of your middle name?"
Me: "My initials are de, and you know my pets name."
D: " The d & e are working but not the pet...I've tried 3."
Me: " Does it say favorite pet? Cause sometimes I put the kids names in there?!"
D: "No, I've tried all that."
Me: "How many tries do you get? God, it's the internet, I could've been your dad or your brother when I signed us up for that! The possibilities are endless!"
D: " Unlimited tries.......I got it, it was case sensitive."

It shows him offline.

A few minutes later.

D: "Thanks"

Yup, never a dull moment at either place!

Mom called, she's on her way to Edmonton tomorrow, to look after my aunt that had the liver transplant.

Vanessa called...I got us the Reba tickets online.
Now I have to collect the moolah!

Better go!

Ta ta for now!

34 Years

That's a long time hey!?
That's how long I've been married, our anniversary was on Sunday.
Ray went to work, and I did what I wanted!
Which didn't include cleaning the car, and it's snowing out!

Well I had Martha Stewart craft night last night and tonight, and made 3 of the Halloween lanterns. If you didn't click on a precious post and check them out, now's your chance!
They are TOO COOL!
I only did 3 cause I'm giving those away, and I'll do the witch for me to take to my 'other' job on Saturday(I know, I know, I'm only going for 3 hours tops!), and leave it on my desk in the window.
It'll look cool! And those fake candles are supposed to burn for a lot of hours!

I'll post pictures another night. I'm sooo tired! That's my usual lament, but I'm really disappointed with  my peeps at the OFH, and that makes me tired!
I only had 3 sign up to go to Fairview for the Halloween party, and I need 6.
Oh well, tomorrow when they want me to take them shopping, cause the bus isn't leaving town, I'm NOT!
I figure I can get my newsletter and calendar done. And finish hanging up the streamers and balloons for our party Friday night.
Although I am debating on whether I want to give up my Friday night after today!
Richard our maintenance guy said, "That's crazy, out of 50 people, 6 can't sign up to go?"
I guess not.
They're cranky there too.
Worried about H1N1.
They're past the due date for that one!

Kalens' friend Kendra  turned 20. Today was her birthday, along with our MLA Frank, and my youngest brother Larry!

Better go, have to find something to wear tomorrow, since I'm not wearing my costume!

On hold with "Thank You For Choosing Telus"

Between yesterday & today with the new computer, and calling "Thank you for Choosing Telus", they're on my speed dial!
But seriously, I think everything's working!
Until I go to try something else, and it doesn't work!

We hauled wood this morning, then Ray had to go to work!
Woohoo, an afternoon alone!
Do what I want!
Play Bejewelled Blitz until I'm cross eyed! I admit it, I'm a Facebook game addict!
Check out blogs & stuff on the net!
Reality check!
I DID get the laundry done!
I vacumed.
I made supper.....slow cooker lazy cabbage rolls, and a pasta salad!
I finished my Thank You cards.

Aren't those the greatest!?
There's 2 of each design.
I need to do some thinking of you ones, and birthday, then I'm good. My stuff from the Stamp Club night should be here this week!

I'm also working on one of these for my friend! Click here
Martha Stewart, You'll be so impressed!
I KNOW Halloween is this Saturday....there's always next year!
I've got my bags made up for the little Halloweeners!

I better go, can hear my bathtub calling me....the one with the drink & book!
I'm stiff. I guess I should be hauling wood more often!

Going to my 'other' job tomorrow!

Ta ta for now!

Stay At Home Saturday and a new computer!

I'm connected!
It only took several hours to transfer all the porn stuff off my old computer!
Not really, didn't take long at all! Worked like a charm that external hard drive!
Now I( just have to make sure I've got everything)....and I will between what's left of today and tomorrow.
Had to make a quick trip to town to the local computer store!
This new computer has no modem for dial up!
Can you believe it!
So I got it installed, spent a bunch more money while waiting, and then came home and hooked everything up AGAIN!
Then called "Thank You for Choosing Telus" cause I'd forgotten my password for the dial up connection!
That helpful soul told me dial up was ......get this...... "vintage!"
Yup....I told him "You know yur a redneck when.....!"
Guess I'll try wireless in the near future, after I check into how many millions they'll extort want for that. He told me it hooks to the USB port, yup, that's it, away you go!
Only IF, and that's a big IF, we have a really good cell phone connection!
I didn't bother telling him that when we moved here, and didn't have a REAL phone, we had to climb to the highest point of the yard (Just like in Green Acres)...sometimes it was the tractor tire to get cell reception!
And speaking about 'vintage', we had a bag phone for over a year! Anyone remember those?
Sure couldn't walk around with that!

I'm on my token 100 loads of laundry for the day. Okay, it's 4, fifth one going in right away!
Supper's in the slow cooker (stew), and bread machine (dill)!
I've done dishes, cleaned 1 bathroom, and not a lot else!

Oh, I did work on my Thank You cards I want to get done....that will be later today!
I did a bit on them when I got up this morning at 8:00 am. I might really like this 'Stay at Home Saturday'!

As I was hanging out the 4th load of laundry, cause it is kind of nice out, and it's really a blustery day, I noticed 2 dandelions fighting for their lives! Come on! It's getting to the end of October, we've already had a frost or 2 and snow even!

I passed up a cheap trip to Vegas with friends! Don't know if I mentioned this, but my friend Dianne called me at work yesterday and asked, "If I wanted to go to Vegas on November 9-14 really cheap with (insert a whole whack of girlfriends names here), for something like $399.00!

I said, "I can't." :(
I can't because
a) My baby needs a ride to Edmonton one of these days for some tests for the Armed Forces, Air Forces, or Navy, whichever one he's deciding on.
and
b) I'm hoping my mom will be in the city when we go!
I wanted to go from November 11-14th.
Kalen will have to wait until he hears from the powers that be in those departments!
He's fretting cause he hasn't rented out the top part of his house yet, and his friend Kendra is fretting cause she doesn't have a job at the end of the month!
I told them, "Everything will work out." It usually does.

Vanessa's friend is not coming until tomorrow with my latest Michaels treasure!
Too bad it wasn't today, cause supper's gonna be good.
But I'll be whipping up something tomorrow too!

Better go, got a few things to do while it's still light outside!

Ta ta for now!

TGIF....and a new computer!

It's Friday...and no, I haven't started drinking!
I shouldn't even be on here I have soooo much to do!
I needed a great font for the cards I was making, and had to use the computer for that!
Of course, I must be connected to the internet to do that! *wink wink Cause why sit here and just look through fonts?
How boring is that!?
And I had to catch up on a blog I follow!
Mommy Wants Vodka it makes me laugh!
Caution: lewd, coarse language!

I'm not going to my 'other' job tomorrow!
You heard me....it took me until yesterday morning to catch up on all the goings on in my life!
And I KNOW it took that long because yesterday was the first time all week I didn't wake up to my alarm!
Then again this morning I was up before the alarm went off',  so me being tired and cranky is not a pretty site my friends!
I just have a lot I want to do, and I'd like a little down time, where I don't have to do anything if I don't want to, and I like to bake and haven't done that forever! OK, I did last week, but I HAD to! Nope, I've just decided that 8 hours on Mondays at my 'other' job will have to do for a while!
I was ok working Saturdays AND Mondays, but that was before we aquired another company and got busier. I was only working 4-6 hours a day. But it's been 7-8 hours, and I'm getting worn out!
And I KNOW I'm only gonna be there Monday for 8 hours, because I have a meeting at 4:30 pm. (Oh God, here we go again)!

I made apple pies with my peeps at work today! I even made one to bring home! They said I could!
3 of the gals peeled and sliced, and I rolled!
7 pie in less than an hour! And the one I brought home is awesome!
We're making pie again next week, cause we have apples left!

I've got a new computer sitting on my kitchen floor.
I brought home my external hard drive from work...hey, hey, hey, before you get your shit in a knot about that let me finish!
Now, I brought my external hard drive home from work. It has everything on it from my computer there. I'm going to put the stuff I have on this; my personal computer on it.
I will then; transfer all my crap on to the new one, delete it off the EHD, and download the leftover stuff onto my old personal computer, which is then going to the OFH, cause the one I have now is a piece of crap! Of course I WILL have to remove all the porn  he he, ya whatever! It's card & scrapbooking sketches, a whole crapload of pictures, etc., etc. That will all come off, and I'll use this one at the OFH.
There's not a hope in hell that I would get a new one from the NPHF, cause mine was new, maybe 3-4 years ago! It freezes, it takes me an hour to get a sign up sheet made and printed off!
Imagine how fast I'll be doing my newsletter and calendar!

Well, better go, I want to finish some cards I've been working on, and I might have a drink yet!?

Ta ta for now!

WalMart Wednesday

Today was the day I took my peeps to WalMart this month!
Always a laugh/ or 2/ or 3!
One of my guys bought $20.00 worth of gum, then didn't have money for lunch!
He was with a friend who bought his lunch though!
I asked if he had enough lunch. He said ,"yes!"
I DID tell him that I could have lent him money!

Then we went to the IGA.
One of the residents gets a certain kind of wool there.

Then thay talked me into going to Penningtons.
I've NEVER been!
It's just new to PR. It's where Reitmans used to be downtown.
All right! That store is as much fun as Northern Reflections!
I now have a Pennigtons 'PS Club Advantage' card!
And I bought a TO DIE FOR sweater, and some leggings.
I KNOW!
Should've saved all the legging I had when they were in style!
The nice helpful (of course) saleslady told me to wear the outfit with boots or slouch socks.
SLOUCH SOCKS! Are you guys listening....I told her I HAD some! I'm not a sock person all summer, but let it snow, and I need warm feet!
I did tell her that my slouch socks were neon colors, and no one ever sees them in my BIG farm boots!
She just said, "Get some black ones."
No sense of ha ha that one!
I can also wear the 'to die for' sweater with jeans. It's long enough to be a dress....if I were in my teens, which I'm not, in case you didn't know!

Then I had to go to the $ store in town. Needed some Halloween balloons to finish up the decorating at the OFH.
I DID look at WalMart! They didn't have what I wanted.

Coming home, I had a suprise.
You'll know from older posts if you're following this blog, (and I don't know why you aren't! hmmm?) that we got rid of the buffalo cause they wouldn't stay in the fence any more.
Well...this was the welcoming committee!

I was pulled off the road into the driveway!
This is what happened when I got out of the car!

They didn't go far though the rotters!

Hope they get back in their fence! He's the neighbor to the south west of us!

AVON was in, so sorted that and it's all out in the car already!
Took a while because I had to make some labels!
The teens at the Library are Fundraising for their Movie Night, so I got them the fundraising item through AVON.
Now it's in the book for pete's sake! So wanted to put stickers on the page, and send people to the Library or get them to call  for a set!

Better go, I'm finally catching up on my sleep! Not quite so tired!

I did really well at Stamp Club Monday.
I'll take a picture of everything I got, for not a lot of money!

Vanessas' friend Jeremy is supposed to be coming by tomorrow with my latest treasure from Michaels too!
I'm sooo excited!
I'd be even more excited if I could start on my craft room! Actually WalMart had a desk I liked, and some shelves...so I'll have to check out the prices at Michaels! I'll take pictures before I remodel!

Ta ta for now!
