Happy New Year! All the best in 2023!

I realize that some of my blog friends have already ushered in 2023.

Here in British Columbia, Canada, we are still counting down!

It was -31C when I left last Thursday (the 22nd) to head to Jasper Alberta, to spend Christmas with my northern Alberta family, and friends from Calgary, Alberta! Lovely drive, however the road sign that said, "The next 230 kms of road are Sporadically Maintained" was amusing! The drive is through the Rocky Mountains!

I pulled up at the hotel right behind my daughter & her family!

Because our friends weren't arriving until the 23rd, on that day the kids tobogganed, and we just did some sight seeing.

We found out we could meet Mr. & Mrs. Claus at Santa's workshop, so did that!

Bryson was excited, he told me that he'd never met Mrs. Claus!

Look at her face! The 'elf' that was directing Santa traffic told us that they had been there a week, and no one had ever went straight to Mrs. Claus and hugged her! There were a lot of Awwws!

Santa got a hug too, and we all got to be in a picture!

The Claus's were very good! Asked lots of questions, Mrs. Claus told Bryson that her and his gramma go way back! Haha

We weren't rushed, it was very well done!

On the 24th we went on the Maligne Canyon ice walk.

We're ready! Helmets, cleats, uncomfortable boots, and way too many warm clothes!!

It was great!

Bryson was sleeping in the grammas room, and on Christmas eve, he told us that it didn't matter when he went to bed, because Santa wasn't coming to our room. He was going to his parents room! Haha

I reminded him that, 'he sees you when you're sleeping, he knows when you're awake!'

I, of course, was in charge of putting the carrots out for the reindeer. I said, where should I put them? Bryson said, on the roof. Haha

After a little discussion, he decided I should just find a nice landing strip! Our hotel was on the outskirts of town, and on our way back from the ice walk, I noticed a herd of elk in the field next to the hotel! I cut up carrots and threw them over the short fence! I am sure something enjoyed them!

And Santa did come! Our group also decorated cookies on the 24th, so Santa tasted a couple of them!

Christmas day, Carol's boys went skiing.

We put the turkey in an electric roaster, and the stuffing in a slow cooker, and went on a roadtrip!

I had booked us a wagon ride, as no one at the sleigh ride site was answering their phone!

After the wagon ride, we went over to Pyramid Lake, the kids went ice skating on the lake.

It was great! It had warmed up, Carol & I checked out the gift shop at the lodge, then we headed back to the hotel for our turkey dinner. While we waited for the scalloped potatoes to cook, we did our Christmas sock exchange, and it was fun! There were a few cans of beer in some of the guy socks! I got really cute gnome pot holders and gnome kitchen towel, along with other fun stuff!

On the 26th, everyone went skiing. Except Bryson, Carol & I, and we spent quite a few hours in downtown Jasper, shopping and eating our way down Jaspers main street!

Brysons cinnamon bun was as large as his plate! Yes he did eat it all!

That night in the pool/ hot tub, a couple told us that the highway we came in on was closed! SNOW! We were to leave on the 27th. Carol's boys had to be home for the 28th, Harley and Vanessa were good to go, highway was good east and north. I was going to stay until Thursday, when they were supposed to open the highway.

Plan B. My friend Carol drove with me, the boys went ahead, and we took the long way through Hinton & Edson, and down highway 22 to Calgary. That was on Tuesday. I came home yesterday. Friday.

It's me, or winter, or the Christmas season! Last year was an adventure to get home!

Anyhoo, goodbyes are hard!

Bryson already asked his mom when the grammas can have him again! I told him we would go to Calgary, and go to the zoo in the summer!

It was a great fun, kind of relaxing get away!

Kalen cooked Christmas dinner for mom, and they listened to The Shepard on CBC!

I'm sure I will be doing crafty things soon. Mom had Christmas packed up all over the place when I got back! I spent quite a while today putting it away!

Better go, I can hear fireworks outside in the neighborhood somewhere! A bit early, but that's ok, don't know when I stayed up until midnight last( oh right, over Christmas)!

Talk to ya later!

Hope you're well!

Stay safe!

“Every time we love, every time we give, it’s Christmas.” – Dale Evans

 Hello!

Happy Monday!

I have been trying to find a design that worked for these awesome die cut nativity ornaments! I think I've had them for 4 years!

Sometimes I go 'down the rabbit hole' on Pinterest! I found this great fun fold (apparently it was popular in 2015.... always late to the party!).

It's called a Corner Flip Fun Fold. I had to adjust the measurements for the die cuts, but I think it turned out awesome!

I am not in panic mode yet, as I leave in just over a week; I think everything is under control!

My nephew asked when I would be back, as he wants to come see his gramma. I told him he can come when I'm not here! Gramma needs someone to pack her wood and blow snow!

I had quite the workout with the snow blower yesterday! Almost waited too long, and about half way through, the snow was heavier and wetter as it warmed up!

I think we have already got our quota of snow for the winter!!

Alrighty! I better go.

Talk to ya later!

Hope you're all well!

“Christmas is doing a little something extra for someone.” – Charles M. Schulz

 Hello!

How are you!

I had a card in my head and it turned out better than I thought it would! My mom has already claimed it for her paper girl (woman)! She's also our neighbor!

I got these gold cards on sale (ages ago). I have been cutting them up for projects. Now I know why....I don't have envelopes that fit! They are an A6/ 4.5 X 6.25. I had some fancy little flat bags that worked!

I have been rooting through cupboards and closets for Christmas decorations. Got a lot done today, however, the hallway is still full! I haven't even brought one box in from the garage that says "Christmas"! There's just. A. Lot!

Anyhoo, getting my stuff all ready to meet the kids and friends in Jasper for Christmas! Still have to book an oil change! Kalen got a new job after we made plans, so can't come. It will be fun! Apparently Santa has a workshop there!

Better go!

Hope you're all well!

"It's not how much we give but how much love we put into giving."~Mother Theresa

 Hello!

Hope you're all well!

I am just cleaning off my desk {insert maniacal laughter here}....

Trying to put things away, and wondering if some of my creations can be used in challenges!

I made this winter scene to send my grandson sometime after Christmas.

They have winter for a very long time!!

This is a Kraftin Kimmie stamp called Cool Kids. (Still available)

It's the first time it's been inked up. The sentiment is from the set too!

I have learned to be careful with what glue I use to add glitter for the snowdrifts! Sometimes I get yellow snow! Hahaha

Hope you're staying warm!

“Christmas is not as much about opening our presents as opening our hearts.” – Janice Maeditere

 Hello!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

I am playing along over at Beccy's Place, with her December Progressive Challenge!

This little guy lives over there!

I have used glitter, glossy accents on his nose, bauble and buttons. I sprayed the trees with some kind of shimmer stuff ;)! Not sure if I captured any of the shine!!!

There was an optional bingo card...I had forgot about it! The best I could do was 2 squares! I have 4 out of the grid, but not in any order!!! I used Digital stamp, die, pinks & blues, and add some sparkle!!

I am going to link it up over at

I went to the Santa Claus parade in town last night!

Also the local production groups An Enchanted Bookstore Christmas earlier in the week! I have had to find a new playmate, as mom has decided she's not going anywhere! Kalen was my date for the last 2 events. However, his feet got cold last night so I sent him home....told him I'd be fine!!

I have attended things by myself as well!!

It's all good!

Hope you are well!

“Your children need your presence more than your presents.” — Jesse Jackson

 Hello!

Still plugging along!

I got this cute Spellbinders die Special Delivery, at the scrapbook retreat for a great price. The scrapbooker selling it even threw in some of the sparkly trees!

This is on it's way north. It's Vanessa and Harley's Christmas card! No worries, she doesn't read the blog!

 Happy weekend!

Today I have a twofer!

This digital image is called Season's Tweetings

And is found over here at WinkWinkInk!

I am playing along with the Outlawz in their Progressive Challenge.

I also used Mulberry Paper, so can enter at Crash Your Stash!

I wouldn't have found the Mulberry paper if I had been looking for it!

I was looking for my shimmery white paper. Haha

Walking in a winter wonderland

 Hello again!

I have more cards! For 2023! My friend Brenda says she does hers early too!

My friend gave these papers to me at the Scrapbook retreat. They are from Craft Consortium. Says they are a 3D Decoupage.

I tediously worked to make 6 cards bases for these toppers/that had oh so many layers!! This one is called 'It''s Snome Time'....I used a swirly stencil from Vicki Boutin, I stamped & embossed greetings, stickled the snowflakes, glittered the snow......put them all together, only to realize I needed 2 more card bases for a total of 8.....OI!

They turned out really cute!

I am going to link them up here at:

In other news, we woke up to this winter wonderland this morning!

Crazy hey!! Its down to about half...was real warm today!

Also, I think I'm the holiday planner, so booked us in for this walk over Christmas!

Maligne Canyon ice walk. Is that wise you ask!?

Because it's a nature based walk, as in Mother Nature, I have to call 24 hours ahead, and the guide will let me know if I can do it. Our party of 7 might be a party of 6, but that's ok, I will get a refund. (I'd rather go on the walk!) I am just so paranoid of falling. Again! Safety is their first concern, and it shouldn't be a problem, I just wanted to be up front with them!

Anyhoo, talk to ya later!

"As for me, I like to take my Christmas a little at a time, all through the year."~David Grayson

Hello!

I have made Christmas cards. They are for next year, as I have all of this years addressed and ready to send......go me!

I am not sure what color the letters are, but found a perfect cardstock for them in my stash!

This was my last one, and I had lost an "O"!

This poor reindeer had been laying on my desk for years....he finally has a home!

“There are three ways to ultimate success: The first way is to be kind. The second way is to be kind. The third way is to be kind.” —Mister Rogers

Hello!

I have been back for a week!

Awesome trip; settle in for a picture heavy only one card post!

Before I left, I had to get my booze in order.

I make liqueur. Had to make sure a few peeps were getting samples!

I did take corn on the cob, apples and a pumpkin. Pumpkin was carved for Halloween, apples were made into pies, and corn was ate, and went in the freezer!

I went to hockey practices.

We went bowling.

Movies

We went to Lyle, Lyle Crocodile.

Vanessa & I also went to Elvis.

Both great movies!

We painted cookies.

Made a haunted house.

Daily pictures.

Side by side ride.

He went slow, I was pretending to hang on for dear life!

Modeled a sweater made for his mom when she was little.

He said it was pokey! Haha

Decorated cupcakes for his birthday party.

I iced, he dipped into sprinkles!

One of the kids that came to his party knit him a pair of slippers!

I was so impressed!

And he got about 4 handmade cards! And good for the parents! Cards are not cheap!

Here's the card I made him.

He was an astronaut for Halloween.

A Canadian astronaut!

Then there was trick or treating!

The weather was amazing!

All too soon it was time to leave.

He shoveled a path out to where he waits for the bus.

I had lunches out, coffee with friends, was a good visit!

Then it was on to Lacombe to visit a friend overnight.

Got about 1/2 hour away & it was a full on blizzard.

The next day I had lunch with my brother in Red Deer, then continued on to Rocky Mountain House, where I visited relatives.

The Friday I went to Calgary, where I went to a Scrapbook Retreat with a dear friend.

There were treats.

I won a door prize.

There was a lovely set of hand creams, a reusable shopping bag, and a notepad!

I must have made about 100 cards. I have no more 2018 card kits! Worked on 2019,2020,2021 and 2022! I brought 2 card kits home!

We blizzard shopped the day after the retreat! My friend & I went to craft stores, and I needed new boots. Then we had a lovely dinner out!

I left the day after.

This winter driving is crazy! Gotta watch the weather. Only the first stretch of highway was icy, and snow-packed. Once I got to southern Alberta to come across the pass & home, into BC, the roads were bare and dry!

Vanessa sent me this pic when I got home. their trees are up for Christmas!

So, yes I have made cards.

I have been addressing Christmas cards...yay me!

I also started making goodies for Christmas.

The Manning kids, and friends from Calgary and I, are all meeting at a ski resort for Christmas! No, I don't ski. I've already been broken, but I'm sure there's a lounge in the chalet. Haha

Let it not be said I wasn't a good sport!

So, I will get back to regular posting soon!

I have  a shift at the Tuck Shop tomorrow morning. Someone asked what a Tuck Shop was. It used to be located in the hospital. Then Covid. You could buy gifts. All items are hand made, and donated, the workers are volunteers. There's knitters, crocheters, quilters etc. All money raised goes to the hospital.

Hope you're all well!

October Challenge/ Beccy's Place

I lied! (About the Halloween cards!)

Here's the card I made for the October Challenge over at Beccy's Place.

I did not add a flower or plant, that was the optional element.

Hope all my Canadian friends have had their turkey!

I am cooking today (not turkey though!), Kalen is coming after he's done work.

I DID make my famous Double Layer Pumpkin pie! Okay, it's more like pumpkin cheesecake!

Have a wonderful day, evening, week!

I probably won't post again until I am back from gallivanting, which will be the beginning of November.

Talk to ya later!

Creepy Cute Ghost

Good day, and Happy Thanksgiving weekend to all my Canadian friends!!

Wear your stretchy pants!

This is my entry for the Progressive Challenge over at the Outlawz.

It's called creepy cute ghost, and is by Oddball Art!

Mom got wood Thursday.

They dump a gravel truck load in the driveway, then it has to be wheelbarrowed to the woodshed at the back. I finished it this morning, and Kalen helped for a few hours yesterday while I was gone!

Now I must go get the rest of my laundry off the line, and see what else I can get into!

Have a great weekend!

One Last Halloween Card (Maybe!)

H

This is the last of my family fancy fold Halloween cards.

I am working on 2 cards for progressive/monthly challenges, and that will probably be it until I'm back from gallivanting in Alberta!

This is my moms card.

It's a Double Z fold that I got over here at Beccy's Place

Mom said, 'Oh my," when I gave it to her, I'm taking that as a compliment!

The others are here, here, and here! Of course I sent other cards out, just did fancy folds for my 'immediate' family!

Have a great day everyone!

Talk to ya later.

A Scrapbook Layout

 Good evening.

Because I started following a LOT of challenges (I can't play with them all!) I came across this one tonight.

Colorful Options/ Outrageous Orange

Right up my alley!

I am scrap booking pictures that Vanessa has sent me. (Because I have nothing but time!)

I just did this one on Friday.

It's Bryson's first Halloween.

I am not doing them in chronological order.

I sift through the pictures, find a piece of paper I like, and I'm off!

Anyhoo, I'm linking this up at:

Good Witch/Bad Witch

  Happy World Card Making Day!

I'd like to say that I've been in my craft room all day.

NOT!

The weather's lovely, there's still stuff to be done outside!

I have decided, there is no end to yardwork!

This card is in the mail, to a dear cousin, who bought an awesome pair of shoes at a thrift store, and sent pictures...she was so excited!

I thought she'd get a kick out of this!
