Terrible Tuesday

I believe Shadow brought home the tom cats remains.
I think we need one of these.
Kinda made me sad, but the smell made me gag!
Then when Shadow was rolling on the carcas, I threatened her with a bath.
Told her to take him and give him a proper buriel, NOT. IN. THE. YARD!

Last night I heard a lonely quack from the dugout, and walked over.
One poor little duck swimming.
I hope it's not one of the babies, cause who's gonna teach it to fly!?

I'm heading to my craft room, I just watered everything in sight outside.
Been making, yup, you guessed it, Christmas cards!

But I did get the rest of my stamp order, so might have to play with those!
I need 4 more wedding cards.
I like the one in one of the previous posts, so might just make all of them the same!

I've worked my fingers to the bone!

I finally got the yardwork done today!

It was too wet the first time I went out this morning, so I finished this card!

It's for my friend P's daughter. Her wedding is on July 10th!

This lady does awesome stuff. I changed it up...I'd never tried a stair step card, and I really like the way it turned out!

Then, while DH slept in his chair I did the mowing & whippersnipping.

It takes a GOOD 4 hours to do the whole works!

I think my DH thinks I LIKE doing all the yardwork!

We'll have to have a family meeting so I can tell him;

"I DON'T like doing it all the time....I just like a nice looking yard!"

And the part about it being too wet this morning......by this afternoon I was in a dust storm again!

And it's windier than heck!

My friend D came out for a visit, so we sat in the swing in the shade, drinking a beverage, and chatting!

So when I'm done talking to you, I'm going to see if Criminal MInds is still on. I think it was marathon day for them!

Lazy Saturday.....

It's kinda gloomy out, so here I sit!

Not really...I whipped up my cards for CCAYR.

I've done the laundry and hung it out.

I've been thinking of vacuming.....and that will probably become a reality!

I've got meat out for supper, and if the weather smartens up, I will be mowing & whippersnipping!

Ray is working.....FINALLY!

So camping may be off, he did say I could go by myself, but I doubt that my BIL would find that amusing!?

I"ll see, there's a few people I could take!

As it gets closer to the family rebellion, I have a few things to finish up.

Like my box of Christmas Cards, and tags for the Silent Auction.

Just no getting away from anything Christmasy at this house!

Then again, if it stays cloudy & gloomy, I really should at least bake some cookies or loaves!

The weather's been great, so haven't done a lot inside!

Did finish mom's Thank You cards she wanted.

Well, Ray's home already......I said he's working....not normal hours, but it's better than nothing!

CCAYR June

I FINALLY finished some cards for Christmas Cards All Year 'Round!

Here's our challenge for June....In honor of summer let's use at least one bright color on our card and a favorite embellishment.

Nothing fancy, but 5 more FINISHED Christmas cards!

I really don't have a favorite embellishment (I like them all), but these are felt snowflakes, birds & holly!

Workworkwork......

Friday I took my peeps to the Cummings Lake Music Festival
Tried to find a link for you, but couldn't.
It's old time country music, some gospel, and some bluegrass.
We didn't get home until 7:00pm!

Saturday I mowed the dried up grass. We are not flooding here like in southern Alberta & Saskatchewan.
I'm still blowing dirt out of my nose!
Didn't even have to whippersnip, cause nothing is growing but the weeds!

There must be a fire close by, cause the water bombers have been busy since Saturday or so.
There's been a lot of noise (thunder), and lightning, but no rain!

Yesterday I went to Peace River, and spent a leisurely morning and afternoon on the Peace!
It was cool in our cabin, and there were only my friend P & I, and the 2 EMR's and captain in the boat!
We then went shopping (Groceries), and came home.

I was at my other job, for 8 hours today.

I just finished watering mostly everything in sight, cause it's NEVER going to rain. And busted the handle off my bucket! No, I don't water everything with a bucket! Just a few trees we planted this year, that the hose won't reach!

I've been packing the camper! I sorted bottles and Ray took them Saturday to sell.
That will be my grocery money for camping!
I've been trying to make cards for mom.
I do have a few made, I'll have to get some pictures on here!

I think we're down to 2 kittens and Gerry! The orange cat, and the FIXED tomcat seemed to have vanished!
Along with the other 2 or 3 kittens. Okay....they're not kittens, but they were born last year!
Also the mother duck with all 7 babies!
I'm going to smack my SIL who said not to get attached to them!
I wasn't, but I'm betting it was that coyote I've been hunting!
No wonder he sticks around!
There's groceries!

Better go, I'm getting my ass whopped in Word Twist on Facebook!

Nothin'

Not doing too much tonight!

OH I'll hang up the clothes when they're ready!

Shadow & I had our flea treatment for the month.
I use the oil, and she's not very co-operative, so by the time I'm done applying it, neither one of us will get fleas for a month!

Tomorrow is the Music Festival, and I'm taking my peeps!
It's a LONG day, but the few that are coming will enjoy it!
I also sorted the bottles from the lodge last night, so I have enough to pay our way in! They think they have to pay $5.00, but I'll do it! It's their money, and then they can tell the stay at homers!
I always buy their supper at KFC in Grimshaw too. (Ok, it comes out of my budget!)

Then I need to get the yardwork done so I can go play on Sunday again!
It's 'Paddle the Peace', only I'm not paddling, I'm riding in a pontoon boat, thank you very much!

K phoned Tuesday....he got to meet Canada's Top Soldier!

Walmart Wednsday

I'm taking my peeps to Walmart tomorrow!
Oh joy!

I stripped the bed in the camper, and put the slide in.
The kids stayed in there Saturday night, and it had rained Friday, so I knew the water would still be sitting on the canopy!

I hauled cornmeal around to the 3 ant hills (that I know of). I read somewhere that the ants eat it, but can't digest it. It's one of those things that should work, but "No animals (pets) were harmed in the making yadda yadda!" One of the hills were red ants, and I know from hauling the 2 X 4's to the back 40, that the little suckers bite!

I threw bread in the dugout for the ducks.....I guess it wasn't swimming lesson time!
And Shadow thought she should have the soggy bread, but couldn't quite reach!

We stayed out around the campfire late enough Saturday night to see the fireflies!
It kinda freaks you out at first!
If you only see one, and it's a little ways away, it looks like someone is walking through the bush with a flashlight!
There were a lot out Saturday!

I've also seen really BIG hornets this year, like I've never seen before...they look like they could take a big Chunk!

K's renters aren't paying their rent.
I'll check it out before I'm done on here, and maybe I'll stop in tomorrow after work! I'm always a little testy after a Walmart day!

Better go, should make a few cards! Ray's not home and it keeps trying to rain!

Seniors & Kids

Had a good old fashioned campfire Sing Along Friday night to wrap up Seniors week at the OFH!
Yesterday I mowed grass and whippersnipped until I was done the whole Yard!
I was outside before 10:30 am, and I was done by 2:20 pm, and that was with bathroom breaks, putting new string in the gas guzzling Stihl, etc!
This is my lawn mower.

The CN storage container should be getting moved to the back 40 this summer!

This is Ray's mess!

I used to mow this whole area last year, now there's crap all over, and the willows and poplars are growing again!

Sure glad it's behind the woodshed, although we did get the 2 X 4's moved that are in the forground! The skidoo has to live somewhere else! It doesn't work.

There are swimming lessons going on in our dugout!

Isn't that cute!

Did all the yardwork yesterday cause V came home with her new man.

He wanted to meet her dad.

2 of her friends came out last night for supper.

One brought salad, and one brought wine.

The kids have to drink wine that tastes like pop or they don't like it!

I like mine a little dryer!

I also like wine with my Sunday night meal.

The kids were here one night, and no one wanted any wine, except me.

K: " Mom, you're drinking alone."

Me: " No I'm not, you guys are here!"

So C brought out 2 bottles of Boones, and we drank them both!

We also had some company while we were sitting out by the fire.

The guys that bought the 1/4 to the south of us.

They told Ray we had a beautiful yard.

I said, I guess there was a reason for the 4+ hours of yard work!

Just once, I'd like a yard job that doesn't require getting

1. Grass clipping in my bra

2. Dirt of any kind in my bra

And today when we cut up 4 X 4's for the horseshoe pits...

3. Sawdust in my bra

I had to undress out on the step when I was finished the yardwork!

Oh, I meant to tell you..... We have a lady who comes once a week to the OFH to teach us painting.

She said she's a cross between Donna Dewberry, Bob Ross, and some Gerry guy I've never heard of.

Here's the first project we completed.

I was talking to mom, and told her we finished our first project, and I'd send it to her.

What kind of card did she want it to be?

She told me: "Well I've had to buy some thank you cards."

So that was a big fat hint!

I'm on the fourth one for her. I'll make half a dozen and send them off!

I have some more (Horrors) stamps coming. Had to get the ones on my list that were retiring!

Thought they'd be in Friday, but haven't heard from her yet!

So, we finished 2 boxes for the sand and the horseshoe pits. I sprayed round up, and in a couple days I'll put down the ground cover nad fill them with sand.

We can only throw them one way, cause Ray's not done hauling trees out of the corner, but it'll be better than nothing!

I also used the push mower this week, and did by the Saskatoons, rhubarb that's over there, and the chokecherry trees!

I hope I get enough Saskatoons for a pie or two! mmmmmmmm!

The blueberry bushes I bought this year also have huge berries on them, but they'll just be for eating fresh, there's not gonna be enough for anything! Ray says there's water in the muskeg, so maybe I'll have blueberries there this summer!

Better go, have to iron a shirt, and make dessert for my meeting tomorrow night!

Caught UP!

For a minute anyway!

I made these cards.

I gave one to my friend Brandi & her husband on Saturday for their wedding!

It was a great wedding. Very casual, and fun!

I'm very happy for her, she's awesome!

Senior's Week started Monday. We had a western theme!

I drove around for a week with a saddle in my backseat (It's STILL there)!

I said to M, "M it's dirty!"

M: " Gail, it came off a horse!"

Me: "How am I gonna explain a saddle in my backseat? Do I tell people I'm looking for a horse?"

M: " Or a cowboy!"

Yesterday we went to PR for a Hawaiian themed games day.

We were the best dressed Hawaiians there! I wish I'd have got one of the girls to take a picture, cause the guys even wore coconut bras!

It was priceless!

Today was Bingorama!

I played, but I didn't win a darn thing!

Tomorrow night is our campfire sing along. Hopefully we get a good turn out for that, then I'm done. DUN. Stick a fork in me! TGIF!

So....the lone coyote that's been hanging around is a slow learner! I DID get a shot at it last week.

And then again around 6:00 am this morning.

Which has only proved that I CANNOT hit a moving target! But ya think he'd be scared!

K, Maybe not.

I shoot squirrels out of the trees for Shadow.

So there's this red winged blackbird, nesting in the willows by the dugout that annoys Shadow.

There it is at the top of the power pole, and Shadow's having a hissy fit, wanting me to shoot it. Cause that's what she does under a tree, and I'll shoot the squirrel!

I. AM. NOT. ALLOWED. TO. SHOOT. TOWARDS. THE. POWER. POLE!

So she can be cranky! Ain't. gonna. happen!

V's coming home on Saturday with the new guy. He wants to meet her dad.

 We're having friends for supper, and more for the fire later.

So I've been cleaning, gardening, and i've finally caught up with the mowing!

It all has had at least one pass!

Now, tomorrow night or Saturday morning when I do it again, I'll do it all!

50 1st Dates, and I work with IDIOTS!

Tuesday at the OFH, one of our new residents (who fancies himself a ladies man) and one of the lady residents were coming down the street holding hands.
You have to remember that we have people with varying degrees of dementia. We keep people longer now. They used to go up to Continuing Care, but someone has to die before there's room, so we deal with it!
M & I were outside, and the couple sat on the bench by the door.
Everytime E moved over, L slid a little closer.
M said, "Ya gotta admit it's kinda cute, and you'd never be bored, because you'd forget what you discussed the day before."
Me: "Kinda like 50 1st Dates?!"
M: " Exactly like 50 1st Dates!"

Later in the day I was paged to the dining room.
One of my lazy co workers has a thing for paging people.
One of the residents was standing by the vending machine.
J: "I put a loonie in the machine and pressed C4 for a Caramilk bar and nothing came out>"
I opened the flap at the bottom and handed her her chocolate bar.
She didn't see it, I WORK WITH IDIOTS!
Instead of going to see if they could help her, they just paged me.
Gawd!

Getting off work early to go to PR with little P.
She needs a dress for her daughters wedding.
I said I'd go if she'd take me to No Frills and Canadian Tire,
I need sundae stuff from No Frills.
It's Seniors Week next week.
The theme is Remember the Past, Look to the Future.
How lame is that!?
I think I want that job.......it's probably 4-5 figures!
Anyhooo, on Tuesday we have Sundaes, and charge 2 bucks and donate the money to Meals on Wheels!

I also need to pick up 2 stools for Happy Hour, so the band doesn't put their drinks on the piano.
Which sould be alright if I wasn't so paranoid that they'd spill them! Stools should put them at the right height!

Better go, I'm working on some wedding cards. I'll let you know how they turn out. I need one for Saturday, and little P want's one for her daughters wedding in July!
