I just read where 'NORMAL' is a setting on a washing machine.
So
when my friends & co-workers ask, "Don't you EVER have a 'NORMAL' day," I'm not sure what they mean!
I'll tell you about the most recent day in the life of........
Monday March 2nd.
Eye Appointment at the Optometrist 10:00 am.
Fine, I can do this, it comes up every 2 years, only for some reason I was supposed to go in October, and had put it off.....oh well.
I am 10 minutes late, my car had a flat tire and I had to get that fixed.
I don't need my lenses changed this time, I order some Custom sunglasses to fit my glasses, and the optometrist tells me I have a tear in my retina.
The specialist (
read Opthalmologist) can see me today, can I go. I said, " Can I drive"?
A bag of Cheezies and tank of gas later I'm on my way.
Did I mention that going to the first eye appointment was an hour away, now I'm going to travel another 200 miles to see the specialist.
I'm in his office about 2:00pm.
He pokes and prods with some medieval looking pointy thing, tells me I'm tough for sitting there and letting him do that, and says he needs to fix it, but the laser equipment is at the hospital.
Can I be there for 4:00 pm? Sure.......he gives me the drops to put in my own eye 15 minutes before 4:00.
By now I'm wondering how much of that pupil dilation stuff can one eyeball take in a day!
I ask him how this is going fix the retinal tear, and he says, "Spot Weld'.
He tells me what he's going to do, and I ask him if he thinks I'm going to keep my eye open for that, and he tells me, "I have a special lens, you'll keep your eye open."
I ask if that's how cataracts are removed, he laughs and says, "No THAT takes 10 minutes!"
I was there maybe 10 seconds!
I was home by 7:00 pm.
Of course I was hoping the cops wouldn't stop me, I probably looked REAL funny, and I couldn't take my sunglasses off until it was dark!
