Bird Bus

I've had a GREAT (but tiring) day!

Got on the Bird Bus at 8:45 am. The cost for the tour, $10.00, and it got us a duck in the duck race later in the day!
We all got goody bags with mints, pen, note pad, rubber chicken, binoculars, and a disposable camera.
We toured a bird farm.

Toured the Ducks Unlimited Site at Dixonville. Had lunch at Dixonville.

Got dropped off at 1:06 pm, ran around town, got my shit done, came home hung clothes on the line, then made a grocery run to PR.
Almost home, and Ray called to ask if I wanted to go out for supper.
I said, "Sure!"
Cause he doesn't take me out very often!

Got home, was putting groceries away, when Andrea called.
Andrea, "You won the duck race tis afternoon."
Me: "NO WAY!"
Andrea, "Yup way. Are you coming to town?"
Me: "We're coming in about 20 minutes to go out for supper."
Andrea: "Stop by the concert, and get your prize, they're going to announce them there."
Me: "OK!"

So on the way to town I asked Ray, "If I won money, do I have to pay for supper?"
He said no.

I got to the concert, and found Andrea.
She said: "They're just going to announce the winners now, shhhh, no one knows!"

They announced my name, and I received the envelope, and Andrea said, "What are you going to do with the $300.00?"
Me: "There's 300 dollars in here?"
Andrea: "Yup!"

So I DID pay $20.00 towards supper!
We ate at the hotel which is under new management, and it was pretty good!

Then I DID get to my other job.

B. came in and said, "How was your day?"
Me: "I had a GREAT day wanna hear?!"

So it WAS a great day, and I came home about 10:00 pm, and planted some flowers, and my corn, and drank a beer while watching the bug zapper fry some bugs!

Beer Run.......

Last night was the Happy Hour (slash) Birthday Party at the Old Folks HOme!
It's a once a month affair with music, dancing, great snacks......and BOOZE!
Yup!
The real deal!
The rules are:
Drinks are $3.00 (there are some exeptions)
The limit is 3, and THERE ARE NO DOUBLES!
I did my liquor store run earlier in the day, and picked up a bottle of rum, and a 15 pack of beer.
I alwasy check to see what the bar needs before the party!
The fun started at supper time, when one of the residents was reading the board on the way back to his room.
Him: "I don't know what Happy Hour or the Birthday Party is."
One of our little ladies proceded to tell him.
Him: " Listen Honey, I don't know what you're saying."
Her: "Shut up Sweetie, I'm trying to tell you."
hahahahaha
It just got better from there!
R, the bartender: "We're out of beer."
Me: "Should I run to the liquor store?"
R: "Well it is only 8 o'clock."
So I went. First time since I've been there that I had to do a beer run in the middle of Happy Hour!
And fun was had by all!

TGIF!

It started Tuesday with about 100 phone calls about Seniors Week.
But we gotter done!
The brochures were out on Wednesday!

Wednesday was our picnic day at the OFH.
We went to Strong Creek.

Wednesday I DID go out for supper with the girls!
I picked up the birthday girl and she was so suprised!
Must've made her day cause she showed up at Happy Hour!

Today, we did our painting lesson with I.
I think the ladies are enjoying it!

I bought a few groceries and came home a whippersnip until the gas guzzling Stihl ran out of gas. Then I hooked up the bug zapper Ray planted the pole for.
After crawling under the modular to fetch all the extension cords, cause the first 2 I tried didn't reach!
DH hadn't been under there to unplug anything anyway!
Told him later if he needed to go under for anything, I'd cleared all the cobwebs out of the way.
Again....I'd be Bitchy!
He said he'd get me gas when he went to check the campsite.
I told him I was done!

I signed up to do the Bird Bus tomorrow morning. It leaves at 9:00am, we get back at 1:00 pm.
Then there's a Street Festival, but I think I'll skip it!
I was gonna do a grocery run to PR, but my other job needs me sometime tomorrow, so I'll see!

One of the Fiskateers is giving away a Martha Stewart RAK!
Check it out here!

Better go.
Have a great weekend!

I'm Not HAPPY!

Well, which one are you?
Hahaha.
Like that joke! I'll have to tell you it sometime.

But 20 minutes ago I was GRUMPY, only because there's only 7 names to choose from!
If you asked Ray, he'd probably say I was Bitchy!

I was at my 'other' job for 7.45 hours.
Had steak & mushrooms in the slow cooker, so threw on some cauliflower and potatotoes.
Cut up some cheese & pickles and wahla!

Whipped up a birthday card for a friend. Her birthday's Wednesday, and unless something happens, I'll be going out for supper with the girls.

She got 'left over' flip flop paper from V's card.

I also put the finishing touches on this card.

It's for a friends mom. I have a date with her this Saturday and I hope to bribe her with this card. I need to wash a load of delicates at her house!
I'm gonna trade her!
I don't even need to dry them....I just can't wash my good whites here, they'll end up looking rusty tie dyed!

I've been asking Ray if he'd cleaned the filter in the pump house since we stirred up all the mud.
He hasn't worked for a week, because of the rain and the blizzard & stuff!

So today, when I went to rinse the dishes in the dishwasher, it started squealing.
(It does that when the filter needs cleaned).
So I asked again, "Have you cleaned the water filter in the pump house?"
Ray, "Oh no, I'll do that as soon as I go outside."

Now, if you know me at all, you know that everything's fine in my little world until somebody screws it up!
And WHY ON EARTH COULD THAT NOT BE DONE WHILE I'M AT WORK????

Me: "Well, I want to do the dishes in the dishwasher, but have to clean it's filter first, and there's no sense doing it if you haven't cleaned the one in the pump house!"

So as he's watching the hockey game (gawd, isn't that over yet?), I get down on my belly & start undoing the screws to clean the filter. Cussing all the way!
Cause someone, not mentioning any names, has lost the 1/4 inch ratchet,
and I have a 1/4 inch wrench I use,
and it's painful, and takes forever!
And why am I doing it anyway?!

Sometimes I wish I WAS a princess!

So I had my little hissy fit and I'm good now!
All's well, the dishes are washing, and the pots are in the sink.

I'll be all right, and Ray.....well I haven't seen him since he cleaned the filter!

Holy Snowballs Batman!

The power was out last night, so when I couldn't read by the light outside anymore, I went to bed.
And it looked like this:

The trees are bent over from the weight of the snow.

It was between 10:30 pm & 11:00 pm I took those pics.
This is this morning!

That's the potatoes!

The birdbath is under this......full of water  ice I'm sure!

So I spent the morning trying a few cards.

This one was the Black Magic one I wanted to try.
I've decided I don't have a lot of flower stamps!

I like it for my first attempt!
I think It will be a birthday card!

Then I made this:

I have a whole whack of patterned cards, I'm determined to do something with this year!
Sometimes I cut them up for the paper patterns, but I'm going to try and use the whole cards!

Better go, it's still trying to snow. Gotta get the laundry & housework done, then maybe I can whip up some more cards!

HEAVY SNOWFALL WARNING WTH!

Yup, you heard me!

And it's already started!

We fired up the wood burning stove again!
Kinda glad I'm home pouting instead of camping!
Oh who am I kidding!?
I LOVE camping!
Just dress warm, and lots of drinks.....warm or cold of the alcoholic kind!

Made a card for my friend that had surgery.
Not worried, she probably got it today, or she's real far behind reading this anyway!

Sorry I didn't take a pic of the inside, it holds a tea bag, and says "Better get better."
I made the flowers by punching through tissue paper, but the punches don't cut very good through that!
Unless I didn't have enough layers!?

I'm going to my craft room shortly to practice what I watched here.
Alrighty, so it wasn't HER tutorial, but the one I watched mentioned her!
As soon as I can turn up the heat...I'm gone!

We also had a lady come to the OFH today to show us one step painting. She mentioned Donna Dewberry, and I said I thought I had a book or two! Guess I'll be studying them before our class next Friday!
She can only teach 4 at a time, and that's what was there, so those ladies are coming again!
I made 5 so I guess I don't count! But that doesn't matter cause I can wing it!
We'll be painting cards!
I want to do mine on an insert that I will make the card around!
You can really personalize them & everything!
I can't wait.
We practised making petals & leaves, and flowers, like the Alberta Wild Rose!
I LOVED it!

Better go!

Trees! I Think It's Arbor Day!

Okay, maybe just May Day!

Yesterday we transplanted about 10 spruce trees! We spread them out in the forest that's been cleaned out of dead willows & stuff!
Took down the natural (DEAD!) windbreak! Haha, so had to put something back, and Ray had some trees that were too close together getting cosy, so we moved them.

Then we planted the Laurel Leaf Willow. Real name (I found out on the internet) is Bay Willow.

It's staked and tied up with some panty hose I wore to one of Grandma Berthas' parties.
And my brother said, "Where'd you get that panty hose? From Vulcan?"

So today when I got home from work, and after I had watched GLEE! (I know, but I like it!)
We planted the Russian Olive.

It IS TOO alive!
I did read that they may winter kill in northern Alberta, but didn't tell Ray that!

Then we planted the Blueberry Bushes, and the Black Currant!

So everything expensive I spent my allowence on is in the ground!

Today I took my peeps to another Greenhouse! Dunvegan Gardens!
As we're walking down the vegie isle, one of the residents says, "Did you get some corn?"
Me, "I can't grow corn! Can I?"
Resident, "You can if it's an early variety."
So I now have corn!
We'll try it!
I'm going to put it in with the potatoes. It should be high enough by the time the potatoes start growing for it not to be bothered by them!

Better go. Another busy day tomorrow.

Geenhouse Hop!

My friend P.F. & I did this yesterday!

We hit, Fern's Greenhouse, which is about an hour and a half away near Jean Dore Prairie. I bought the Laurel Leaf Willow I've been looking for! Yea, I KNOW it needs a LOT of room! 40 ft. to be exact....up and out! Got the perfect spot! It's outside now getting aclimatized! It DID NOT enjoy the ride in the car!      I also got some vegies for the salsa garden!
We had lunch in PR.
Out to Trees & Lilies, where I picked up 2 Blueberry Bushes! Why would I want to leave home when I can do all my berry picking here! Not sure where I'll plant them, but it'll be nice to someday not have to go far for Blueberries or Saskatoons! And, my saskatoons have flowers on them! Hopefully there's at least enough for a pie or 2!
Then on to Cottonwood Greenhouse. I bought a Russian Olive that was on sale because it was last years! HELLLLLOOOO! She wintered it, so I know it's gonna grow here!
So I almost have everything I need this year!
Just want to get a couple more peppers when we go to Dunvagan Gardens this week with my peeps.

I'm not a really good pot person!
I have 5 pots on my little deck and that's it....I'm a horrible waterer! I can't be bothered dragging the hose or watering can around, so most plants have to be self sufficiant!
We saw a HUGE dust devil in our travels!

And these guys. (Or girls)

Awful hey! I was going to look tics up, to see how they can get rid of them, or if they just die:(

Also, woke up to shadow barking frantically from the step.
When she doesn't leave the step, you know something's in her yard!
So went out on to the little deck, and put my sandals on and walked over to where she was.
Coyote on the north side of the dugout!
Had to come in the same door I went out, cause the closest one was locked,
get the gun, and trot outside AGAIN!
The coyote was tearing up the pasture already....seen me the first time!
So, Shadow went over to where it was, and retrieved a furry critter!
Dead of course.
We thought it was a baby coyote, but when Ray went outside, we decided it was our white cat.
We might just be down to the 3 that have been here for 4/5 years, and one of last years kittens!
It's kind of damage control!
Hakuna Matata! It's the Circle of Life!
Don't mean to sound callous, but we DO NOT NEED 5 to 10 cats!

I planted the potatoes today!
41 unhills! I plant them to China, as Ray says, because they're in raised beds,
and we can't hill them.....so I just plant them deep!
I DID want an even number, but apparently I can't count and had an extra!
No damn way am I throwing it out!

I wanted to clean my car, you know, because of the dirt and all from hauling a car load of greenhouse plants, but it tried to rain several times, and I didn't want to have to race the vacum cleaner in!
I HAVE to find bags for it! I'm on the last one. Maybe online somewhere!

Better go, hope you had a great weekend!

Cold

TGIF!

I'm not cold....I have one!

I worked at my other job today.
I was at the lodge Monday, as I took my peeps camping at Camp Tamarack!
We go every year.
It's always fun......some people never get to go again....and we learn the hard way!
Our best laugh came early yesterday morning!

Cabin door slams!
A frantic voice saying over and over..."ISDANAEINHERE?" "IS DANAE IN HERE?"
Danae jolts upright from a sound sleep, and so did I cause I was in the bunk across from her.
Danae, "M, I'm here." "I'm here M!"
M, "Danae, you gave me my  pills last night, and when I took them I swallowed my teeth! I don't know how it happened, but I swallowed my teeth when you gave me my pills!"
M, "You have to take me to the hospital....NOW"
Danae, "M, I doubt that you swallowed your teeth, you must have forgot where you put them."
As she gets up to search M's sleeping area.
M," Danae, I swallowed my teeth, you have to take me to the hospital."
Danae, "Calm down, you couldn't swallow your teeth."
Handing M her hat all curled up, with the teeth in it!
M," Oh you found them, where were they....?"
On her way out of the cabin with Danae & I in the lead, cause the comotion has woke up EVERYONE, SLAM goes the cabin door, and M looks around and says, "Now where the hell did the kitchen go?"
hahahahahaha
I can't wait!
Danae's getting married this summer, and says she thinks she wants to be the one 70 years from now to loose her mind! Says she doesn't think she could deal with it!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.....It's NEVER boring!

Tomorrow my friend P & I are going on a Greenhouse hop!
I think we'll do 3.

V got her birthday card, and loved it!

Ray called today, and said it's his uncles 70th BD in a couple weeks.
I'll have to see what I can do about a card.
The goal is to eventually have cards made up, but 70 calls for something special!
 Better go.

I Need a Nap!

AIN'T. GONNA. HAPPEN!

I've done 3 loads of laundry today, and hung them on the line!
They're all back in, folded up, and put away except for the last one, which is going out now!

I've climbed under, over and around the 5th wheel, with the slide lube and the rubber seal crap!
I scrubbed with rags & really hard brushes, everything that looked like it worked the slide.
( it didn't work right!)
Let everything dry, then sprayed the crap out of it.
The slide lube stuff, said to spray a thin even coat! Hahahahaha......it looks like really dirty motor oil, and it kinda gobbed out like a foam!
Oh well, the slide works....all by itself!

I gave V's freezer a bath out in the shed, it's ready for the next shuttle bus coming or going!

I DID pick up some dead willows, but will get serious about it again tomorrow!
I didn't have the proper footware on and those rose bushes are killers!

I also got V's Birthday card ready to throw in the mail!

I'm going to be showering soon, and going to town to do some errands, then off to the fundraiser!

Hope you're having a great day!

Hell-lo! TGIF!

Okey Dokey!
TGIF! In case you missed that!
I delivered AVON, had a beer with my friend P, and then came home and cleaned up 2 loads of dead willows!
This is what I use.

\

That little quad trailer paid for itself the first year we had it here! I can haul a lot of crap in that baby!
You can see smoke in the lower left corner....I'm having a campfire all by myself!

I came in for a beer.
I'm kind of like that bad cliche about women, and how their work is never done!
Came in for a beer to sit by the fire; the washer was done so hung the clothes on the line.
I could see by the time, that the dishwasher would be done soon, so waited to shut it off so it could air dry, plus when I installed it about 4 years ago, it has a slow drip that no one has fixed, and I can't twist the joint hard enough!YUP! You heard right! I. INSTALLED. THE. DISHWASHER! (Only took 3 days, 1 with a friend!)
I picked up a couple anti bacterial hand sanitizers to put in the outhouse.
( Which had it's annual cleaning last weekend!)
Went to the bathroom, took the melon out of the fridge, so I could snack later, (I don't like cold fruit!).
THEN got a beer and went out to the fire!

This past Wednesday hubby & I went to Charley Pride in GP!
The kids gave us tickets for Christmas!
He was great, the seats were great!
Ray went out at intermission and got to shake Dion Prides hand!
I have a feeling that's the lasts concert of his we will see.

Today I got a Mother's Day card from V.!
In is was a ticket for Johnny Reid in October! Whoo hooo!
Her and I are going!
That's 3 concerts in one year for me....I'm sure it's a record!

Called my mom to brag, but it didn't really work, cause she had company.
This is the second Charley Pride concert we've been to.
My dad was a HUGE fan, and never seen him live. :(
It was great for all occasions though, we'd just get him a new Charley Pride album! He was churning them out that fast!
He's a great entertainer, but you can tell it's catching up to him!

Tomorrow I'm going to the fundraiser for the United/Anglican church in town. It's a dessert/entertainment evening, and it's only $5.00. I'm not eating supper!
There's also a silent auction!

Better go!

Tuesday...cause that's all I got!

Hello friends!

Took my peeps from the OFH to Music Monday at the High School last night!
The amount of local talent we have never ceases to amaze me!
And WOW, that K has such a powerful voice, and the songs she sang....one was The Break Up Song!
Awesome job!

It's cold and windy again today, but I was outside, and I DID finish V's card.
I'll show you! She doesn't read this!

It's a double pocket card, and I made it so it has an inside you can write in. You can find a tutorial here!
Not the one I used, but can't find the dam thing now!

Thse are the tags I made to go in the pockets.

She's making some life decisions right now, and I wanted these to be positive, and her to know I'm behind what ever she chooses to do!

Here they are all together!

A pedicure gift certificate from her favorite place will just sit behind the first row of tags!
I thought the flip flops were fun, and they really are her favorite footwear!

Tomorrow hubby & I are going to Charley Pride in GP! The kids got us tickets for Christmas!
Better go!

Monday Minute.....

I'm actually home from my other job, and have a few minutes before I go to town to take my peeps to Music Monday at the High School!

Busy this weekend.
I'm starting to hate it when DH is home......I've said it before, and I'll say it again, "I NEED SOME ME TIME!"
I'm good with yard work, housework, laundry etc., but on my own schedule! IT GETS DONE!
He'll start something, and need me to "look at something", or "come here for a minute"!
GAWD!
I honestly think that he thinks the House Keeping fairy comes in and does everything!

So this weekend I've, hauled away dead willows until I could scream! ( I also had a fight with one, and have a skinned knee!), did the laundry, vacumed, vacumed the camper, and made the bed in there (I'm ready!), made supper both nights, brushed the dog( more than once!), dishes until I was blue in the face....we put the bale in the dug out, and it stirred the water up! Don't want all that shit in my dishwasher! I also got my hair done, burnt a bunch of crap from around the yard, the list goes on. V's X also brought the little freezer out, he bought a new one, and stayed for supper! I'll have to give it a bath one of these days!

I also received a phone call(meaning I answered the phone) from DH aunt who's in a home.
She thanked me for answering the phone, thanked me for the card, told me what was going on in her life, so I said, "Do you like it there?"
HOLY MOLY!
She spent 5 minutes telling me how & why she hated it there, and what was wrong with her, and at the end said, "But; I just have to be happy with what God gave me."
I thought, WOW there's someone who's really pissed at God!

So the rant just before that made me think about that e-mail that goes around once in a while, with the I'm glad I have to cook, because it means I have money for food on the table, a messy house, because it means I'm not living alone.....that isn't word for word, but you get the drift!

I DID NOT get a chance to work on V's card though!
It only needs a few more things, and a gift certificate!

K is in Victoria! He was hoping to be on a ship today, but I don't think that happened.
Must be disappointing!?

We also put air into the tank attached to the pressure pump......it had none, and I wouldn't let DH wash his pickup here last weekend because I told him it was too hard on the pump! So when we were in PR last weekend dropping his truck off to be fixed, we got a bunch of pamphlets on tanks and pumps. We ARE going to get a bigger one, just don't know when.

We had Happy Hour at the OFH Friday night!
One of the residents children told me "This is a really nice event!"
I only know I need a waitress, cause heaven forbid they come up to the bar!
Someone might see them.
I guess they DON'T see me packing the drinks to them!?
I try to leave by 9:00pm, but it was closer to 9:30pm!

I'm getting the camper ready...I think we should be able to go camping for the first time the long weekend! Hope so, or maybe me & Kendra will have to go!

Better go finish my dishes befrore I have to go to town!

Ta ta for now!
