The nicest thing about the future is that it always starts tomorrow.

Let me TELL you about my day!

Ray was called to work last night and left around 5 am for a sleepover or 2 or 3!
And I'll tell ya right now that it's probably for the best!

I got up at 7 am.
Slept in for sure!
I put some Boston Baked Beans in the slow cooker, cause I've had a craving, and I used the ham bone from last week.
I put a seasoned roast & all the fixins in the oven, preset the temp, cook time etc! Cause I'm going to play outside.
Was on my second load of laundry, that I was hanging on the line, and cleaning my tub, for my much anticipated jacuzzi soak later; when I had MUD coming out of the tap....MUD I tell ya!
Looked in the washer, and it was filling up with Mud too..arrgghhhhhhhh!

Let's back up.
A couple weeks ago, Mr. Procrastinator (who lives at this address) told me that the heave in the ice, when the dugout filled, busted the rope holding the water lines & float.
Then just this past week, he told me that the ice was gone he could get a boat in there. to fix it.
See he tells me this stuff, doesn't mean it gets done.

I STOMP (cause that's what I do when I'm testy) out to the dugout, and find the float sucked up against the south side.
The water lines are sticking out again, so I'm thinking they probably took a nose dive into the south bank!
And....I can see the broken rope!
Well.....I'm nothing if not resourceful, I figure I'll get a hold of the broken end somehow, but How will I get it across to the other side?
I thought of tying something to a rope, but seriously people....I throw like a girl, and I didn't know if I could throw it over 80 feet, cause that's how far it is from one side to the other, and that's the width!
It's 120 feet long......anyhooo, I think about this as I'm wandering around tryng to find something to snag the broken rope with.
I'm also thinking if I find a long enough piece of rope I can walk it around to where it's supposed to be tied to a pole! Or, do I have to run to town in my rubber boots, and farm clothes and get some rope?
Well, I find a R E A L L Y  L O N G piece of rope in the shed, and while I'm there I grab a tarp strap...it has hooks on both ends hmmmmm!?
I tied the tarp strap to a smaller piece of rope I had and flung it out in the water, and it catches the rope!
Honestly, one try, just like that!
I tie, (wishing I'da paid attention in Girl Scouts) my really long rope to the busted piece, and start walking around the dugout.
Oh look, it's Mr. & Mrs. Duck back this year.
Yeah, camera in my pocket like always, and it's probably about here I got a boot full of water!

Of course I shrieked!
It's damn cold this time of year!
I keep going, and look, I tried to get a picture of some cranes for you!

Hahahaha! Aren't you guys impressed!?
I'm lucky I didn't fall in the dugout or loose the rope!
I'm getting around to the north side thinking to myself I don't know if I'm gonna be tough enough to pull those hoses over, or what if my rope breaks, I'm back at square 1, when I can feel it slurping out of the mud, and coming with me.
By now, full boot & all I'm ecstatic, I tie it to it's pole, empty my boot, and come back to the house!
It's not even 10 am, and I've already worked up a sweat!
I empty the washer, and set it to rinse again, and wah lah.......clearish water.
No mud anyway!

I finish my housework, and laundry, and go out to play!
Look, isn't this thee healthiest dandelion you've ever seen?!
For sure it's spring!

I make myself a bridge over the little creek with a pallet!

I get sidetracked & clean off the little deck. It had a broken planter on it, and extension cords from Christmas lights & stuff.
I prune the cottoneasters in front of the little deck.
I put away the Christmas solar lights that I left out, because I thought they didn't work all winter.
Turns out I just didn't turn them on!
So I left them out to enjoy them, but the days are getting longer, and I have to stay up later to see them, so I put them away!

I get the rake & clean up around Shadows house.

I haul & burn 3 wheelbarrow loads of dead willows & crap, and 2 of heavier stuff that's on my side of the little creek, it's heavy cause it's wet.
It rained twice, and I sat with the cat in the woodshed!
And  at 1:00 pm I was sitting by the fire pit drinking beer, cause I was about done in.
And in my defence it was probably 5 o clock somewhere!

OH, here's my fearless guard dog, when I'm busy.....sleeping in the shade of the pump house!

So; it's not even 6 pm, I've had my supper, my jacuzzi, brought the clothes in off the line, had a nap, now I'm going to look for the hockey game!
Second game in the series!

I'm also working on some cards for Kalen & mom for Canada Day.

Here's one I made, and I found the recipe here!
(No, not for Canada Day!)

Tomorrow, I'm not gonna do much, a load of laundry, and a wedding shower......that's it, oh yeah, gotta bake something for the meeting Monday too!
I'm thinkin apple pie!
Gotta go, you guys have a great weekend!

Ta ta for now!

No one ever says "It's only a game" when their team is winning.

That's right!
Hockey`s on tonight, and I`ve suddenly become a Vancouver Canuck  fan!
They play the Nashville Predators tonight! I`ll be looking for the game later, the popcorn is made!

I`ve made a few cards....one of my friends wants a special one for her mom`s birthday.
Her favorite color is green, I`ve been trying different folds.
Don`t need it until August people, so I could have quite a few to choose from by then!

I found the tutorial for this card HERE!
I couldn`t find it on her site, so I had to go back to the e-mail. I get an e-mail every week or so, and she has tutorials & stuff, maybe it`s just for those who get her e-mail.....I dunno!
Anyhoo, this might be a little busy! I`ll definately try this fold again!

Then I told ya here one of my bosses got married!
Well, there`s a shower for her on Sunday, and the party (wedding party hahaha) is May 28th.
I thought I`d make a card.
And hope that this isn`t the start of a repeat of last years 6 invites!
So this is the outside, only because I knew where the templates were for the dress & shirt! hahaha

I even made a cute little ribbon rose cause I screwed up that corner....no REALLY!
I cut too far, and this is my last piece of this Bazzil black!
The insert on the dress was run through the Big Shot, and popped up!

Here`s the inside!
It`s a gate fold card, and it has a pocket.
I got cute little magnets from somewhere, and used them to hold it shut.
I got the tutorial HERE, and Holy Moly does she do some great stuff!
Gawd, this is the second time I'm typing this part....Thank You For Choosing Telus!
So, they don't want gifts, they're 30 something, have lived together, and have everything they want!
I was going to be creative and include a coupon or certificate that entitled them to a pie a month for 6 months, or cinnamon buns, or something! He likes baking!
What do ya think?

I also finished Vanessa's birthday card, but you'll have to wait to see that, cause I know she's a lurker! HA!
The Robins have been singing every morning this week, so I know Spring is here; I've been trying to get some decent pictures of the chubby little suckers!

Better go, maybe I'll see what I can come up with while hockey's on!

There is No Such Thing in Anyone's Life as an Unimportant Day.-Alexander Woollcott

Hello peeps!
Hope you had a wonderful Easter if you celebrate it!
Ours was good, Vanessa & Shawn were here!
We had ham, scalloped potatoes, sweet potato casserole (it's to die for; like eating candy!), vegies, hot cross buns and I made a pineapple sauce for the ham I wasn't too fussy about; so yesterday it got turned into muffins and a pineapple loaf! For dessert I made a Red Ribbon Delight or something to that effect.....one word....awesome!
Vanessa brought me my treasures from Michaels!
I needed some ribbon, hahahaha, really, I needed adhesive!
So she brought me 6 packages of Tombow adhesive runner permanent refills! 3 in each pack!
I tell ya, adhesive is hard to come by around here!
She brought my popcorn from Costco!
Big Orville Redenbacher jugs!
And a wonderful 3 tier spiral planter for outside...that was for Mother's Day!

There was an afternoon of quading!

The elk have made it to the back 40!

This is Shadow coming out of the creek, and she took a flying leap, and got me soakin wet!

Her & I are trying to clean out the willows.
It's still pretty wet though!
It did get to +15 C today, so was almost tropical.
Didn't need a coat, that's for sure!

This is what got delivered to work today.
Apparently it's Secretary's Week!
I love my job!

I'm also ready to get back to creating stuff!
Had a nice break!

Can't buy tickets to go see Kalen until July.
He only knows 3 months ahead what his schedule is!

Better go, talk to ya later!

The Problem With Doing Nothing is not Knowing When You Are Finished.

TGIF!
OK, technically it's Thursday, but tomorrow is Good Friday, and it's a holiday in my world!

The floors are vacummed & washed, the dusting's done, cleaned a bathroom, Ray's on his second trip to town, cause I forgot eggs & vinegar!
The things you do when the children are coming to play!
Just gotta make ice....hey, you never know, and I WAS going to do it before I got on here!
Menu's planned, and I'll do most of the prep tomorrow, we're eating Saturday, cause the kids'll go back Sunday!

Vanessa slipped & texted me that the truck was packed, so I think they'll be here tonight or tomorrow!

The Elk have been hanging out!

And last night when I came home from supper out and delivering Avon, they were in the pasture!

Made my mom's Mother's Day card.
Not my best work, oh well, she'll get a laugh!

Working on Vanessa's birthday card.

You guys have a great Easter, and I'll maybe talk to you this weekend!

There are Only Two Things to Worry About--Either that Things will Never Get Back to Normal, or That They Already Have.

OMG, I have had THEE worse acid reflux going on today!
I even bought some Zantac when I went to town today, and now I'm drinking Peppermint Tea!?
And.I.Don't.Like.Peppermint.Tea!
On my second cup!
Hope something kicks in!

Dentist was wonderful (she says sarcastically)!
Another crown, andthisclose to a root canal!
Had to get drugs so there'd be no inflamation when I unfroze!

These geese were checking out the campground last week.
It's Rays' sister & husbands.
It's where I get the bottles all summer!
This is what it did on Friday night!

The fire pit is out there somewhere!

Took the van to Peace River on Saturday so they could fix my cruise control, 2nd time......still not fixed.
Taking it back on May 4th, when I go get my real crown in!
They're thinking it's wiring, and I've told them I have a short, 3 times!
They keep saying it's not related. Alrighty then!

This is the album I made to keep track of my stamps.
It's a wooden photo album, so is kinda funky.
I cut the stuff out with my Cricut....I think I need to mod podge the whole outside, but it looks great, and is evben kinda alphabetical!

I think I may finally be over the heartburn/acid reflux all day attack!
I even got drain cleaner in town today, as the sink in our bathroom has been getting s l o w e r & s l o w e r!
I dumped half the jug in like it said.
Waited for 1/2 hour.
Went back to run hot water down the drain & nothin'!
I put the plug in, filled the sink with hot water, pulled the plug and YES!
It works like a charm.......Ray shoulda done that when he started complaining about it!

Better go.
Gonna try some cards tonight.
V's birthday's coming up, and so is Mother's Day
Talk to ya later!

Ta ta for now!
p.s. Hopefully there's no scary pictures in this post!

I'm up InSanely Early!

Gawd, I can't sleep!
Went to the Quilt Show Saturday!
Holy Moly, there's a lot of talent out there!
I took a picture of this quilt my friend did!
She got a new sewing machine, then spent months traveling 400 miles to make a square to learn what the sewing machine did!

I thought this next one was cute....it's a baby quilt, and the pockets hold dolls!

Here's the Easter cards, all finished!

Here's a close up!
They're all mailed too!

Here's Shadow, and she smells something!

I took this picture on the way home one day!
The geese & swans, and who knows what else have arrived for the summer, but the lakes & rivers are still frozen, so they're swimming any where they can!
I think it's amazing to see them together, in the middle of a field!
Basically in a big puddle!

The 'creek' behind the house has started running.
I use the term loosely, as it just runs in the spring, and is the run off of snow.
Don't tell oceans & fisheries, cause I guess if it runs more than 4 days or something crazy like that it's considered a 'creek' and there's living organisms and such in it, and we'd be in trouble because of the outhouse!

This next one is along the 'creek' bed, and is how much we have left to clean up this spring.
About 60' to the neighbors fence, then we'll go south!
We're getting rid of the dead willows and crap.
Fire hazard!
It's waaaay messier in real life!

Our dugout is full.
Which is odd, because it usually fills last, AFTER all the snow is gone, and Ray starts to fret!
Oh well, it's full, and it will get a good rinse, because all the snow run off; across the road where the bush is down there, still has to go through it!

It hasn't been melting much, been cool this week; snowed Monday, and is supposed to snow again today!
I'm going to PR this afternoon.
Dentist.
Still NOT SMOKING people, only yesterday I could've killed for one, and all day I kept smelling smoke!?
Anyhow, because of my (now) bad habit (traded one for another) of shoving everything in my mouth, I'm trying to pack healthy things in my lunch; broke a tooth eating carrots yesterday morning!
The girls at the dentist got me in for this afternoon!

And about the wonky read on the gas pump in my last post.........D told me that there's a light out, I'm not the only one that noticed, they've ordered a new face plate.
I'm so gullible!
Tell me anything that sounds the least bit techy, and make it sound like you know what you're talking about; and I'll believe it! hahahahaha!JK!

Hope you're all well!
My latest project involves putting all my stamps into an album, alphabetically no less!
Ihaveover50stampsandsets!
If I say it fast it's easier to take!?
Organizing the punches is on my to do list too!
So far, no doubles of stamp sets anyway!
Did a few cards for challenges, and mom needs Birthday Cards, so I'll be busy!

Went out for supper with the girls last night.
Going to PR Saturday, they'll fix my cruise control, and the Trade Fair is on!
I haven't been to one for a while!

Better go!
Have a great day!
Ta ta for now!

I can resist everything except temptation. - Anonymous

REALLY! Still eating everything!
Not smoking though!

When I got my last Stamp Club goodies, the instructor had cleaned off her desk and tossed the cast offs my way!
So far I've made these.

This one says "U, to have a Happy Birthday" on the inside.

This next one, I tried out my Large Classic Inverted Scalloped Square Nestabilities!
Lovin the nestabilities!
Did I mention I got them  HERE  for all you Canadian readers!?
This place rocks!
I ordered Thursday, my stuff was here Monday!
Gotta love that!

It says 'Better Get Better" on the inside!
Of course I just had to scrunch up the ribbon, and slap on the biggest button I could find,
so it will. never. fit. through. Canada Posts. Normal. mail. slot!!
Cha ching!

Then, this evening I got fuel, at the bulk place....you know, one where you put your gas card in, punch in the pump # etc., it's after hours, there's no one in the office.....
Well, it's not -30, I had nothin better to do than stare at the pump.

Then I checked out my receipt!
Lets have our lesson of the day.
The pump says 57.43 litres.

My receipt says 67.43 litres.
HUH!?
I took the pump picture after I got the receipt!

But see, I think I got 57.43 litres in my vehicle, but my receipt says I'm paying for 67.43 litres!
I'm wondering how long something's been out, cause not everyone is anal like me and gets a receipt.
Most people fuel up, and drive away!
I WILL be calling Monday morning to take on Corporate America...ok Canada; and let me tell you that I'm batting about 0-5 right now!

But somethin ain't right!

Better go.
Am planning on going to the 'Material Girls' quilt show tomorrow.
Meeting my friend P there for the show, and lunch!
Gotta support the small town functions!
Talk to ya later!

Ta ta for now!

You can't be uncheery with a balloon. - A.A. Milne

Or something to that effect!

Alrighty! Sunday night I went HERE to the Stop Smoking Seminar.
So far so good!
We never smoked in the house, so maybe that's helping!
I get a little anxious a couple times a day, I don't know why, cause I don't crave a cigarette!?
Now if I'd stop eating everything in sight!

Monday I had to be in PR for my eye exam at 9:30 am.
Apparently the doc doesn't like me reading without my glasses, so I'm supposed to get reading glasses to leave by my bed......we'll see!
I had an appointment for the van, because I had no cruise control! WTH!?
I didn't use the cruise control all winter (cause you're not supposed to), and didn't go too far, then Sunday when I had places to go, I had no cruise control!?
I also had an appointment at 1:00 pm.
Did that, shopped til I dropped, got groceries and came home.
My Monday Friends of the Library meeting was cancelled until May.
Maybe the president is unfriending everyone!
You know, after our last meeting!

I also went throught the car wash!
This was a triple coat of something! I laughed out loud!
It was like a rainbow threw up on my vehicle!!
I'm such a dork!

These elk were at the neighbors bales this morning! There were about 100 or more!
He has cattle, and elk make a real mess of bales.

These guys were looking for enough water to swim in!

I saw this guy/gal on the way to work this morning! I don't think that's enough water to swim in, and I could hear the ice breaking as he/she walked away from me!

I took this next one on the way home!
There's water sitting all over, and I want to see if the culverts are froze, and we need the dugout to fill!
This happened over the winter, now, was something trying to get in? Or was soomething trying to get out?
Hmmmmmmm!

I also heard today that one of my bosses got married on the weekend!
B & L went to Jasper with their parents, and tied the knot!
Good for them!
Guess I'll have to make a card or something!
What should I do?
I congratulated B when I was leaving.
Better go, might have something crafty for you next time!

Ta ta for now!

Sunday, April 3, 2011

Say Hey!

I know I'm slipping, and just so ya know, there's not a crafty anything in this post!
So you can skip it if you want!

Had another 'life got in the way' week!
My Monday meeting got moved to Tuesday, so missed 1 baby shower!
Meeting lasted until about 8:30 pm.
Wednesday I went out to supper with friends.....nope, not the one we've been trying to get together with, but I did track her down at the OFH and give her the BD card & gift I packed around for a month!

I did go to the baby/wedding shower Friday night!
It was fun, and great seeing a lot of the girls Vanessa went to school with!

Yesterday, I did laundry, vacummed, cleaned a bathroom, I've been sooo tired!
Ray's been getting up in the middle of the night to go to work!
Logging is done, he's been driving a water truck and the road bans are on!
He has to go when it's a little frozen out!
He got home at 8:00 am this morning and is now sleeping in his chair!

I have got Meatloaf Stew in the slow cooker.
The laundry is DONE!
My dessert is baked (Apple Crisp) for my meeting tomorrow evening.
The dishes are done, I'll put them away later.
I will be showering and getting ready for the seminar in PR tonight.
I'm going to Romane tonight, wish me luck!
I HAVE to quit smoking........It's really a REALLY BAD habit!
I can't take any medication or use the patch, so I'm trying this!
Don't worry, I'm a little skeptical too!
BUT, a written lifetime guarantee!

Tomorrow I have 2 appts. in PR
One at 9:30 am, and the other at 1:00 pm.
I'll do my grocery shopping tomorrow too.
PR is an hour away.

I have a few pics for you.
These icicles were hanging off the office roof earlier this week

I put out the Easter Bunnies yesterday.....can't find the bunny family, but I might come across them!

Shadow is a messy housekeeper!
The straw is supposed to be IN her house!
It'll get cleaned up this spring, when it dries up!

I think the painting of her house, or putting siding on it will happen this summer!
And we'll try a door. Again!
Ya know your a redneck when, I used tomato cages for my peonies!
Hey, they were only planted the year before, and only had one gorgeous flower each!
When they grow up, I WILL get some heavy duty peony cages!

They were covered with snow, so the snow's gone down about 6"!

The poplars have pussy willows!
I took this yesterday morning!

This is what it was doing yesterday afternoon!

An impromptu blizzard!

And this last one is a pic of the elk on the road last night!
Getting dark, and there were about 1/2 a dozen of them!
They'll be in the pasture in no time!

Better go, I'm thinking about my cards for CCAYR, my craft desk is a disaster, I've got about 4 things on the go!
Talk to ya later!

Ta ta for now!
