I can't say that things are back to normal, after a summer with Bryson! I also can't say that the days have slowed down!

I made a HM card, and it's a Christmas card....just giving you a heads up!

 I have a lot of images on my desk right now waiting to be colored! Not just House Mouse! I used a Sizzix EF, colored with Ohuhu markers, and added twine on the side. It's real sparkly as I sprayed it with shimmer spray!

When we moved my mom to a seniors apartment last fall, I got back a lot of the cards I had made her. They have been given new life, and a lot have been getting refurbished and passed on.

This is one I just did.

 I had the embroidered ornament sitting on my desk (there's a few); I gave one a home! It's green metallic thread on Rose Gold. Found some green foil-y paper, and embossed it. EF is Winter Vine I think. Stretchy tie for a bow, and done! I tried different greens for the card base, and nothing looked good. Kraft it is!

Can You Handle the Pressure  Anything Goes with a Twist of YOUR FAVORITE COLOR I like green. And anything with Kraft. Is Kraft a color!?

All our snow is gone. Aconites, Daffodils, Tulips, Violets Etc. are all coming up! Still been chilly, and has been raining.

A friend of a friend was getting out of crafting, I got a lot of her haul!  Today I finished sorting the last box. The Girl Guides will get a box of punches, trimmers, markers, inks.....And a huge box of paper! I kept a few sheets of paper (wink wink), put some aside for a friend, and a huge bag for Vanessa, because one day she will get serious about scrap booking! Last week the Guides got paper, stamps; just an assortment! It's win win for everyone!

I have A LOT of Christmas 'stuff' that needs a home (put away), so I made some of it into this card! If I make about 20 more cards, the 'stuff' won't need put away!

 It's an SU embossing folder with a Creative Expressions die cut sentiment.

Anyone else have a thought, cut things out or color them up, and leave them on your desk? My daughter calls it 'squirrel syndrome'.

I just realized I didn't show you the treat boxes I made my Scrabble group for Christmas.

I made the boxes with my box maker out of cardstock. Filled with assorted chocolate. Tied with twine, gold thread, a tag and a wooden snowflake. They were a big hit!

Happy New Year!

It's the 2nd of the month, so time to see who sent what to whom Over at the Card Chain Challenge! 

In December we had this to work with!

 GAIL's FIENDISHLY FESTIVE TIC TAC TOE

 

 

I am not afraid to tell you that this made me sweat; my eyes started twitching.......You get the idea!

However, when the postal strike ended, I sent my card  to Jo in the UK! 

I used the fourth line down and across.

Slimline, sleigh, stencil, sparkle and Santa.

The sleigh is Spellbinders, Delivering Joy. The front stencil is Whimsical Winds from Kraftin' Kimmie. Which I then pushed Nuvo glitter(sparkle) paste through! Cut the HO HO HO out of glitter(sparkle) paper! The big guy had to go on the inside, and him and the Merry Christmas is a Cottage Cuts Die (Retired). Still available here! Glittery(sparkle) snowflake inside, more stenciling, and a fun card!

I have made another House Mouse card!

 

 

I have used a Stampendous stamp called Ornament Candy.

Colored with Ohuhu markers. Sentiment is Lawn Fawn. Glossy accents on the bauble. Used traditional red and green card stock. Green is embossed with an old SU folder.

I went to the Christmas light parade Saturday night! Was fantastic. We were at the beginning of 35 minutes of awesome smiles! Started pouring rain just as we were leaving, so pretty sure the people watching way up the street were soaked.

It's been a real busy time! Of course I am not telling you anything you don't already know! Tuck Shop tomorrow; haircut, my car goes to the shop! Have to make my Greek pasta salad and rum balls for the pot luck supper on Thursday!Thursday is Scrabble, and a pot luck supper. Friday is a night out to see the Blossom Valley singers; Christmas songs! Saturday the library is hosting a free book page ornament making class. All supplies are included! And so on!!

Allsorts Week 810 It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

It's Lynn hosting over at Allsorts today! Her theme is It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas! There's the Anything Goes option too!

 I have used AALL and Create Jingle Dreams. I stamped and colored with Ohuhu markers.  I masked the image and used a SU star stencil. I blended yellow through the stencil, then used Brutus Monroe Glitter Glaze. The panels of SU cardstock are cut with Stampendous dies; and the back panel was embossed with an old SU folder called Divine Swirls. Gold twine, a stitched button from my stash, and a Creative Expressions sentiment. That's strategically placed over a schmeered star! My stencil stuck!

I have made another House Mouse card!

 

It is called Holiday Travel. Colored with Ohuhu markers.Rims and trim were colored with a metalic pen. Glossy Accents on the windows and lights. Some shimmery paint on the snow/ road, and a few gems. Image is popped up and put on  stampendous die cut paper and cardstock. Background is from a 6 X 6 pad of Carta Bella or Echo Park (old).

 I fussy (shudder) cut out my House Mouse image. I die cut the boughs. Attached them all on paper from the $ Store, which was attached to a kraft card base from Chloes Crafts. Put a LOT of sparkly ornaments on the branches, glossy glaze on the lights, sentiment from Creative Expressions, and called it good!

I said I had a minute to play because here's what's been happening since the end of August! I delivered Bryson to his parents in Edmonton on August 30th! I don't even think they were home and he's already planning for next year!

In September my mom decided she was selling her house and moving to town. She found an apartment in a Seniors complex.

Her property sold in about 36 hours!

I had to find a place quickly! I had been looking, but the rental market is tough, probably like anywhere else. I looked at a place, said I would take it. The (very nice) people went on holidays to Hawaii, and when they came back, I started moving in. I have been here since October 18th, mom moved to her apartment on October 20th. 

Closing date for her house is November 30th.

She loves where she is! Gets 2 meals a day. Which meant she had to downsize big time! Her little one bedroom apartment might be 200-300 sq ft. Her house was almost 2000 sq ft!

We had a huge yard/ garage sale, but not everything from the house made it out!

I am here to tell you....those rooms and closets you never look in. Clean them out NOW! Honestly; because I moved in with my mom 3 years ago, I sold almost ALL my furniture. I still had things in boxes because I didn't need anything. I have a storage container; and every day lately there have been 3 boxes on my kitchen floor. I am being ruthless! One box is for storage, one box is for the Girl Guides and one box for the Thrift Store. I am happy to say that I can get 4-5 boxes into one for storage! Now I am digging all the Christmas stuff out. I look at it for a few days, and find most of it relegated to the Thrift Store box. We really don't NEED all that 'stuff'!

I love my little space, it's a one bedroom modular with TONS of light!

My craft desk, and majority of the crafty stuff is in my living area! It's the first time in 10 years I haven't had to sleep with it in my bedroom!

I am not in town, but I am closer to town!

I am on the river just out of town, can see two mountain ranges...and it's quiet!

So hopefully things slow down to 'normal' for me soon!

I have a Christmas card for you today!

 I have no idea where I got this cute snowman!

The EF is from SU. Ribbon is from Michaels, and the sentiment is Creative Expressions Wordies Sentiment Sheets.

I paper pieced the parts of the snowman with glitter paper! I needed him to match the ribbon! I used a piece of felt for the pom pom and used glitter glue. On his hat and at his feet. A few Studio Katia amethyst pearls, twine and a charm, and done!

I have this!!

 

I used a white piece of cardstock and blended green with my dirty blending brush. I then, smooshed and daubed Inca Gold on it. That would be the shiny parts that don't photograph too well! I used an embossing folder called Christmas Vine. Die cut my sentiment out of scrap cardstock (3times). backed the panel with a scrap of gold cardstock, attached it all to a white card base. Added sequins, and done! It's real pretty IRL! In hindsight, I should have sprayed the whole panel with shimmer mist! Too late! Next time!

Told my brother, 'And we're back!' His Ipad is connected to my wifi! He's going to work this week! I will have to find a new movie buddy!

Snippets Playground # 479 Santa is all snippets!

Been rainy, gloomy and cold here!

Larry and I went to Cranbrook on Friday. It's an hour away. I wanted blackout curtains. I thought when Bryson comes this summer, I might like to have coffee at 5 am by myself! We also got groceries. I will go to the recreation center sometime this week and see if they have their summer schedule figured out. Bryson told me he would take swimming lessons while he is here! I had to reassure him that even if he was in day camps or swimming we would still make jam, applesauce etc! He also said that he'd like to go to mini golf every day! Hahaha

I have been mostly keeping up with the weeds in the flower beds! The darn whippersnipper quit, so I need to find a small engine guy. I have a meeting this week and Scrabble. I should be able to get a number from someone!

Weather still isn't very nice, but we have been trimming trees. Fruit trees, the trees growing into the fence and over the fence into the neighbors, suckers from trees.

I am going to play scrabble at the library! I didn't go last week because my mom had something(cold/flu) that was hanging on and I didn't want to give it to anyone! I am also dropping off the paint I got for Kalens house!

Friday Larry & I are going shopping in the US.

Saturday I am working at the book sale at the Library. I also have to stop by a friends and pick up popcorn her husband got me from Costco!

It's cooler here! We woke up to snow yesterday, but was gone by dark!

The leaf clean up will have to wait until it's dry!

Apparently I will be coming out of retirement in the home DIY department! My boy asked if I could paint a room for him. I guess he will put his house on the market this Spring sometime! It's a tiny house with a tiny yard; good enough for a single guy, retired couple etc. Emma has moved in, so that's 2 people, 2 dogs and a cat! They just want something bigger. I will go look at the room on Wednesday. He just wants it a generic white. Pretty sure the ceiling will need painted then, and I guess the closet is blue, as it didn't get painted last time!?

Such is life! If you've followed me for any length of time, you know I can do pretty much anything. I just don't want to! Hahaha! Usually I just pay to have it done now. For my boy, I will paint a room!

The weather has been lovely! We have been cleaning the yard; raking leaves and burning them. I am shirking my duties today as the leaf burner. After Sundays fiasco...I am scared! I pushed over a dead tree in the yard. Really! It was rotten, soaking wet, and it just went over! The soggy stump caught fire when I was burning leaves Sunday! I have no clue how that happened! Well of course it was a spark, but honestly, as I am trying to rip the piece off that's smoldering and throw it in the fire, it just keeps shredding, as it's so wet and rotten! Got my heart rate up for sure!!! My brother brought me a hose and a pail of water today. I said, all the smoke and embers are going towards the old dried out forest, and I don't feel comfortable burning!

Anyhoo, I am in, and after I share this card with you, I will get dinner ready! I am BBQing, so I should be forgiven!

I've picked up groceries today, bought a pair of comfy slip on running/walking shoes, and tomorrow I have an appointment to get my summer tires on. Which may not be wise, as our weather is supposed to get yucky with snow and rain in the mix, and cooler temps by Friday! But hey, after Thursday I will not be going anywhere until next Wednesday!
