 Well, this is it! I'm off for my surgery tomorrow! Had a Covid test this morning, and already got the text that it was negative!

Now, a visit with the surgeon on Tuesday, X-rays, then a new knee on Wednesday!

UPDATE ON MY MOTHER FROM PREVIOUS POST!

She broke her ankle. Sometime between Saturday May 8th when her sisters were there, and Mother's Day May 9th, she did something. She doesn't know what. She had x-rays and a cast put on May 17th.

I made some cards to mail out, in case I couldn't sit at my desk for a minute after surgery.

He's always thrilled! They should all be that excited to get a card from me...in their underware!

 

Firepit Friday a week ago, was in the pouring rain. It did not put the fire out, or dampen our spirits!

However, the payoff was worth it!

 

This horse chestnut got a serious trim so the fence could go up!

It was really hot the day I took the picture, so there's the haze!

It's one of the nicest we've seen, with beautiful pink flowers, and it lives in the forest!

These are the loofahs & gourds hanging out in the front entrance. We tried to slow them down until they could go outside!

Most of them are planted out now. Some are not happy (the loofahs), and the gourds don't care, and are blooming!

The petunia tree is up. I told Kalen it was his job to keep it alive while I'm gone. It's supposed to be cooler this week, so I have hope!

Kalen has bee busy planting lavender. Over 200 plants, and another 160 to come.

Then we will get ready for the pigs. OI or OINK, I'm not sure which!

This next card was sent to me by a dear friend! She didn't even write in it, so I could use it if I wanted. I'm keeping it, I know the work that went into it!

Picture heavy coming up!

The petunia tree got hauled to the compost.

 

Not sure if we're putting lights on the frame to make it a Christmas tree!

Shelves got built in the garden/horse shed.

We don't have horses, so it's a garden shed!

The pots off the petunia tree are on the shelves. It doesn't get really cold here, but I wanted them out of the way so they wouldn't get kicked or bumped & break! 

I dried my own tomato seeds, as my favorite tomatoes are not always available. 

I'll let you know if it worked!

 

Moms sidewalks got painted. 

Not all of them, but the front and side where her woodshed is.

This is right after I painted the 'caution strips' for the little steps that are there! She kept trying to send me home, "I know the steps are there!'

It has a bit of grit in it. 

Will probably still be slippery if they ice up; however, maybe it will help!

My front entry got a facelift!

It was an unheated dingy space.

This is with a coat of primer.

Primrose Path, is the paint color. 

I just couldn't do BIG BUS YELLOW!

 The floors, and door will get a makeover in the spring. I have the flooring and trim, but it's too cold.

I need it to be warm for a few more days so I can get plastic up on the windows to get rid of the condensation! The windows in there are original from the house, circa 1940.

I have made body scrub with some of Kalens lavender.

These have been distributed to my friends that offered to be guinea pigs/try it out!

The ugly pinky orange closet in my living room also got a facelift.

I forgot to take an after; it's filled.

It does have a curtain, as it's the seldom used appliance closet, linen closet, snack closet etc!

It's walnut season.

The ground has been raked, and late yesterday afternoon when I got tired of raking, I fired up the tractor, as it still has the mower on, and mulched the rest of the leaves!

There's still lot of walnuts on the trees!

This Pileated Woodpecker spent a long time one day eating bugs out of the stump that's left from when the tree fell down last year.

I was going to throw all the dead chunks he tossed out into the firepit. 

Kalen said, 'where will the bugs live?'

So I tossed them back under the stump!

There you have the condensed version...REALLY!

Going to pick walnuts, I really should go grocery shopping; I hate it anymore.

Laundry, yard work, the usual!

Hope you're all well!
It's been gloomy & rainy here, not our usual June, and things are a little behind.
Cherries probably have another couple weeks; last year we were eating & picking them on July 1st. My cucumbers are just coming up in the garden. I think they need the heat!
Rally muggy today, but accomplished a lot!

This is the latest card  sent Mr. B!

 When making it my label maker ran out of ink!

I showed Kalen & he said to save it for a 'cow' card!

This was his reaction!

I told his mother that they should all be that excited and appreciative when I send a card......I added, or do I have to send you tattoos too!?

I'd better get busy making him another one!

Because he knows that we see the same moon, I'm always taking pictures for him

This one was about 4am, and has the petunia tree in it!

It is growing by leaps & bounds!

My little masked friend has been checking things out in the yard about that time too! 

Last night the weather was good, so we had the back neighbors over for a firepit & drinks(and snacks)!

Moscow Mule! 

There was apricot liqueur, and apple cider on the menu too!

It was a lovely evening!

I think the yard work is caught up for a minute!

Kalen & I did some inside stuff; put my stair railings up for the basement. They've been down since the washer & dryer got moved downstairs. We hung some curtains.

Watered everything in sight. I think they appreciate it more when it's cloudy rather than scorching hot! 

The back 40 needs mowed, but that can wait a minute!

If we keep it up, we don't spend as much on gas as when we first decided to mow it!

Was really slow going and took about 3 days!

Was so overgrown & weedy!

There's only one corner left; also the portion that Kalen threw all the branches from pruning, there's a dirt pile, and manure pile!

It will all get cleaned up.

Next weekend, I plan on painting my little front porch on the inside.  I have had the paint, it just hasn't made the list!

It's on the list now! I'll have to pick out a simple light fixture too. It's a bare bulb, and I'm not fond of them!

This is for the son in law, whose birthday is next week!

He likes fishing, so did my best with some new dies.

The sentiment inside says, 'Nothing says Happy Birthday like a piece of paper folded in half.'

He texted me last week and said, that's an awesome piece of paper!

 

Bryson & his mom got creative & sent me a picture one day!

It was so cute!

I have baked pretzels.

They turned out amazing! Apparently I need to watch the pretzel shaping video again!

I've made decorative focaccia bread!

 

 

The bird bath is up and being used.

And when there's not a bird in it, the deer are drinking out of it!

The hummingbirds are still drinking out of the feeders!

I have made 2 Rhubarb liqueurs.

I wanted the Amaretto, Kalen wanted the orange & ginger.

The pots that came were the wrong size, so Kalen reordered.

They were not available!

so I shopped in the shed & found some that fit.

They are 1/2 full of Styrofoam!

The color isn't great, but I will take a picture a week!

I have a few imposters in the pots!

They didn't know they were supposed to be pink or purple!

That's a red one in the top pot, and I guess technically the second one is pink!

It's been raining today, so did some laundry, made nuts & bolts.

Made a sour cream rhubarb pie, I'll take it to moms' for coffee when it cools a bit!

The sun is shining, so if it keeps up, the grass will have to be mowed!

The back 40 is getting a makeover,  gardens need weeded!

The list never ends!

Good day!
It was raining this morning; I thought good, I can do what I want!
It quit raining, things will probably have to be watered, and I'm still trying to 'do what I want."
Which so far has included:
Cleaning & changing the hummingbird water
Laundry
Cleaning the top of the fridge
Making Kalen & I a snack
Straining liqueur
Dishes
The list is long.
What I really want to do is finish a birthday card for my SIL, and make Bryson another thinking of you card!
I should really finish putting the seeds into the garden & weeding!  
I started yesterday!
I made rhubarb pie yesterday, and we took mom a piece. 
Today, I WILL finish the birthday card, and make some fococcia bread! 
I made taco stuffed sweet potatoes last night for supper, so there's leftovers!
Vanessa has a birthday coming up.
I made this.

I was drinking a glass of water, and knew I'd 'dripped'.

I grabbed & wiped off everything in site.

Went back to making the card, and there was a watery ink smudge on the middle bag!

It ended up under the HB2U!

I messaged her favorite pedicurist up north & got her to mail a gift certificate!

 

I actually have a hair appointment for this coming Friday!

I was going to go grey, and had an appointment for my hairdresser to give me a little help, when everything shut down!

I figure by the time she cuts off 6 inches we'll be good.

I won't need any help! 

 

We've been busy digging & planting!

Half the petunia tree is planted. 

Mine is similar to the picture; and holds 21 pots.

I had bought 10 pots for it across the line.

Then they closed the border for non essential traffic.

I put up my pots & plants in every second holder.

Kalen thought it looked goofy.

I said, "I can get these pots in Canada, I don't want to pay $30 each for 11 more!"

He got online & ordered 10 similar ones from Rona for about $4 a piece!

I have the flowers for them.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get pink, which is what I got for it to show up from the road, so we will have pink & purple!

I'm sure it will be stunning! 

I'll take a picture when all the pots are in.

Haha!

I get a day between Saturday & Sunday this long weekend!

There's no end to the little chores that need to be done!

I will be making a rhubarb bundt cake either later today or tomorrow, and we will take some to mom!
