We may encounter many defeats but we must not be defeated.-Maya Angelou

Happy Saturday peeps!

It's all good, and I hate to repeat myself, but life is really getting in the way this year.
I'd say summer.......but.......... (insert maniacal laughter here!)

Since I posted last I have had

- Vanessa's birthday supper

She got her quilt from last years Amish Auction sale

We got a puppy at work....her name is Cardi, (short for Bacardi), no we didn't get to name her.
She likes to sleep in the boot tray, and yes, her face is in my shoe!

I got the lawn mower stuck..........hahahahaha

Made a card for a shower!!

I've also:

- Took the seniors at the home to the 2 local greenhouses to get their flowers
- Drove the handivan for the community run
- I DID get the lawn mowing & whipper snipping done
- Sprayed the dandelions/ I'll be doing that again....tis the season
- Been to Peace River with Ray for an appointment
- Went with Vanessa to the lawyer (twice) to sign Kalen's mortgage over to her
- Been on the phone trying to get my cracked window replaced before warranty is off
- Was on the phone with the satellite people, cause both receivers quit one week;
we had no TV for almost 2 weeks, which didn't affect me!
- Planted the garden
- Wednesday dinners with the gf's
- Firepit Fridays
- Caught my fingers in a log when I was using the wood splitter
And a million other things too numerous to mention!

Today on the agenda is:

The shower I made the aforementioned card for
Building a garbage stand for the house in town
Shopping at the hardware store
Buying some peonies & strawberries.....mine winterkilled!
I'm sure there's a firepit in there somewhere.....with a beverage!

Better go, the laundry awaits!

Hope you're all well!
Talk to ya later!
Ta ta for now!

Laughter is the one form of communication every culture can understand. --Author Unknown

I have a minute!

Welcome Sue! Not sure if you'll learn anything here, but you might get a laugh or two!

Went out for supper with one of my peeps, bought groceries then came home!

I have 2 more BIG-ish projects, then I can build the bridge over the creek (spring run off),
then relax.....I think!

Kalen got hit by a truck riding his bike to work on Friday.
He's ok, the truck didn't stop at a stop sign.
I'm stealing this picture off the internet, so if it's wonky...........

He texted me right away.
I told him he'd be stiff the next day, but he works out lots, runs & rides his bike for hours, so felt all right.

I made him a card.

This will make him smile, cause he knows how far I'll walk for a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte!
Here's the inside.

Not sure if you can read it, but it's a definition of "LUCKY"!
He told me he volunteered at the Mustard Seed that night,
cause when you "almost bite it, I figure you owe the world something" unquote.
The guy wanted to not report it and just pay for the bike;
Kalen reported it....
the bike is worth thousands......
oh to be young & have money!!!
It's a touring or racing bike....
my mom said she can't get out of the hundreds of $ for a bike, so can't imagine!

Then so we don't have another 'card for no reason' fiasco like here,
I made Vanessa a card!

She'll get the 'latte' thing too!
Hers has the definition of 'unique'!

AND.....in case you're not paying attention, I've fired up the sewing machine!
I tried it on this card here;
and practiced some more on these 2!
Okay, don't look too close!
That's why they're going to the children!

Tomorrow night is dinner with the gf's.
Thursday I want to wrap the water lines....again!

I'm taking the heat trace to the electrician so he can put a plug in on it.
I need 100 feet of it!
A couple years ago I told Ray, "this is the last year I'm cleaning off the roof"!
This year I mean it!
Hopefully this will melt the snow under the sky light so there's no ice build up.....
That's what should happen in a perfect world.........I'll keep you posted.

On the weekend I sprayed the last of the chemical out of my containers over by the sewer pump out.
Relax people, it's for control of the weeds;
Shadow knows the 'P" word, and the cats don't like the smell, so all stay away.
My little rubber boots leaked, so I had sewer socks!
I dug the rest of the potatoes.
The whole time I'm digging I could smell cat $hit!
There was none in the gardens.......
I was walking in it!
OMG!
I had sewer socks & cat $hit shoes!
About 4pm I came in,
shoved my clothes AND shoes in the washer & had a shower!
I tell ya....160 acres and they gotta go in or around the gardens & flower beds!

Had firepit Friday, and 5 o clock somewhere!

The strawberry bed is built, full of dirt, and covered til Spring!
I just have my gladiola left in the big flower bed,
but it hasn't froze hard yet and they're still blooming!
All the windows but one are washed on the outside!
2 are even done on the inside!
It has nothing to do with energy, this stuff has to get done!
Tonight I washed, bagged & hauled more tomatoes to the freezer.
I even bought some rubber gloves today,
cause I have a pile of peppers I gotta do something with!

Working on a couple more cards for challenges.
No, I don't have any more time, it just gets dark earlier!

Hope you're all well!
Talk to ya later!
Ta ta for now!

In all the chaos stay focused on your dreams. --Vanessa McLean

Good morning!
You were going to get a twofer last night, but I was too tired.
How tired was I?
WELL, I didn't realize until this morning that I posted my HM creation (previous post), and didn't link it up at the HMFMC til now! OI!

I know I've been remiss about blogging.................
can I just say the summer's too short, and I really like to spend time outside while I can!
I even napped on my swing last evening; it's my favorite place in the yard!

I've cleaned my desk off, made some cards, which I will get to so you can get on with your day, and I'd also like to welcome Mary Ann! Don't know if you'll learn anything, but you might get a laugh or two!

Also, can you please go over here and send Curt some love!?
He's hurtin and hasn't posted for 2 months.
I miss him!
And, my friend Bonnie over here, lost 2 furbabies within 5 weeks of each other.
She does have a new little one to help fill the holes in her heart; Bugsy!

Alrighty then; I made these cards for someone.
I have another 3 to go, and I can't say who,
cause I think they read the blog; darn followers by e-mail!
Anyone know how I can see who they are????

ANYHOO.........................

I made this encouragement card for a Rodeo Queen wannabe!?
She is! (Second from left!)

My strawberries are happy in their garden.............
building them their own box is on the agenda for this weekend.
They are so sweet!

It's been cloudy here most of the week, and rains at least once a day in the vacinity!

Sitting in the swing enjoying the birds, there's a birdbath to the right, and the Robins really like it!

Shadow smiling for a bellyrub!

I went to Peace River last Saturday; picked up Vanessa, then we spent the day at a swim meet, watching the middle grandchild! (Long Story)
His mom liked that we came, made the day go faster for her!

It's hard to get a picture of them swimming, but pretty sure that's his coach in the blue!

Here's a field of Canola right across from where I work.
The tracks are from the sprayer.
You know;
"The crop is genetically modified for control of the weeds"!?

That's all I got!
Working on a mini album for my mom with pictures from last years Family Rebellion.

It's supposed to rain today, so the dusting & vacuming might get done.
I want to start on the strawberry bed;
some nasty wasps have made a nest in some of the lumber I'm using.
Yup..................More of this!

Hope you're well.
Talk to ya later!
Ta ta for now!

THE BEST PART OF LIFE is not just surviving, but thriving--With passion and compassion And humor and style,And generosity and kindness.--Maya Angelou

I'm baaaackkkk!
Ok, I've been back since last Sunday, but life's got in the way!
I'd love to have a routine.....that would last at least 2-3 days!

On the 14th I went to have my stitches out!
I was there 2 HOURS!
2 hours people.....I only had 9 stitches!
That's how tight they were put in! I guess so I didn't come apart at the seams!

The drive down to my moms was painful!
There's really no place to put your foot up when you're driving!
I had to buy Advil at a gas station and pay boot leg prices!
Anyhoo, the foot quit swelling every time I didn't have it elevated on Sunday, August 19th.

This past Tuesday I quit wearing the 'boot' cause my foot fit in a shoe, and I could move my toes!
I went to GP to see the specialist on Thursday.
I was at the hospital for 3 hours, had lunch with Vanessa, went to Service Canada to renew my passport, and got to Fairview at 5:30pm to leave my van at the dealers!
Told them to call me when it was fixed!
I have no cruise control (again), it's a dust collector, and I have odd ticking noises when I turn left or right!
No one's called!

I've been getting to work before 7 this week, and staying until after 4!
I'm not complaining, my desk is almost cleaned off!
No one does my job while I'm away!
I think I'll go to work Monday, even though it's a holiday.....there should be no one there except the bosses and the phones should be quiet!

I've got the obligatory holiday pictures for you!
Fun was had by all!
There's nothing crafty in this post, so you can quit reading now if you like!

Kalen was there for a few days!
He went to Shambhala which was close to my mom's then caught a ride!
I put him on the bus on the 18th!
Before he left, some of us did a brewery tour!

The mountain was on fire where we held the family reunion!

Here's a picture at night, we watched it flare up!

I got new shoes......
The one on the left is my lovely boot, so I don't put pressure on my toes!
The one on the right is for walking on the treadmill, much safer than bare feet!

Some cousins and I did a tour of Nelson!
Took the ferry over to Crawford Bay!

These vehicles were a popular sight in my travels!

There is Sand Sculpting going on in Creston at the new Ramada!

I also spent a few minutes with my blog buddy Myrna!
Who has been much busier than me since I got home!

The drive home was wonderful!
I drove up through Radium Hot Springs;
it's been so long I had forgot about these

Had to take a samll detour to attend my oldest Grandsons graduation!
(I'll tell you that story one day!)
I met Vanessa there, she chaperoned the grad party!

The graduate with his escort!

Vanessa with the Graduates younger sister;
who got her dress off the 'Bargain' rack, cause she hates dresses!
It was gorgeous!

'The Graduate' & his gramma Gail!

Interesting pose, but in my defence it was probably the 30th time someone said 'smile'!
He's on his way today to start college next week! I'm so proud!

Home now, my house is a disaster, I'm going to look after some stuff in the garden today, sort the bottles, and make some rhubarb pies!
Hope you've all stayed out of trouble, and are well!

Talk to ya later!
Ta ta for now!

The best way to have a good idea is to have lots of good ideas.-Linus Pauling

I just don't know where to start.
There's no 'normal' at my house!
Kids were home on the weekend.
Here's Vanessa, ready to go quading.

We had awesome food, and got a lot of work done!
Winterized the camper, folded & put away tarps, planted a shrub, etc., etc.!
Visited and laughed!
Here's one of the things we laughed about.

Vanessa's footwear!

Here's what she brought me (said it was from Kalen for doing the house)!

Isn't it A-MAZ-ING!
I LOVE IT!

It's been another crazy week, even though it's been a short one!
I went out for dinner with the GF's last night instead of making salsa.
I came home with salsa as my mission.
The bags of cat food were still on the step, so I delivered them to each shed, fed the cats & put the food in the containers.
Fed Shadow.
Put wood in the outdoor furnace....yeah, it's running already...gonna be a long winter!
Gave a lot of the trees & shrubs a pail of water, then emptied the 250 gallon (or whatever) water tank.
I came in, and dealt with the left over turkey....it's in the freezer, it will be soup this weekend!
I then put ALL my tomatoes, skinned and not into freezer bags, and hauled them out to the freezer.
I did the dishes & thought about baking for the Open House at the library tomorrow night.......and that's all I did! Thought about it!
Decided I took my Silent Auction item in today, I shouldn't have to donate an item & baking!
So tomorrow night I'll stop at the library, bid on a few things, play nice with everyone for about 45 minutes, then I'm going with some GF's to the movie!

Got one more busy weekend then next Friday I'm off to my mother's to meet with the O/S!
Hopefully by the time I come home, the woodshed will be full! hahahahaha
Like it will do that by itself!
Been working on a few projects, one Christmas related, and one Halloween!

Better go, talk to ya later!
Ta ta for now!

It is never too late to become what you might have been.-George Eliot

You KNOW I should be outside mowing the grass! Again.
Don't worry, I'm sure it's going to rain!
We've been invited to a wedding....just one, later this month.
I've had this card in my head for a couple days!
Probably from doing the card following it and getting high on Stazon.
Gawd, that's evil stuff!

So I embossed the vellum, and the stamp is under that.
(Stamped with Stazon no less!)
Then I added pearls, some ribbon to cover Lord knows what showed up under the vellum!
(I also have a gob of something on the back, but I'll fix that too!)

This next one was fun, and it would've worked with the vellum!
You just cut sections of your embossed work out.
I saw this HERE!
I'll be darned, we used the same embossing folder!

Here's the inside!

If anyone can tell me how to properly use Crackle Accents...I'd love them forever!
I used an antique button on the front of the card, cut the little legs off a brad, filled the button full of Glossy Accents, plopped the legless musical note in there, and let it dry!
It dried with a bubble, but I'm ok with it!

Now, as per someone's request, here are the bird houses I slapped together on the weekend!
The little one was bought a million years ago at Home Depot.
I'll have to ask Vanessa if they still have them!

There's no perches on the larger ones, so big birds can't perch and steal the babies!
See, learn something new every day!

Following is the card Vanessa sent her dad for Father's Day; and because of the strike, he only got it last week!

Hahahaha, that kid kills me sometimes!
She's on her way to a Backstreet Boys/New Kids On The Block concert in the city!
Hey, I had to take her to 2 , then she grew up, and learned to drive yadda yadda yadda!
So I don't have to go anymore....don't worry, she's asked me!

Here's Shadow smiling for a picture!

I better go, I see blue sky through the clouds, so maybe I'll make an attempt at mowing,
or maybe I'll just make some more cards!
Do any of you sell your cards?
I'd like to know what to charge.
I've had a few requests!
I don't want it to be wild & crazy, just a ball park figure's good!

Stephanie from Germany's visiting with Kalen in Victoria!
You already know where V went, & Ray's hauling gravel today.
I need a nap, it's our year end at work, and that's always a headache!

Oh yeah, before I go, Sheree's put a deadline on her project she needed help with,
so If you're interested go let her know!
Talk to ya later!

Ta ta for now!
