“In the middle of every difficulty lies opportunity.” – Albert Einstein

 Good day!

Alas, it is raining. Again!

Not going to complain, I don't have to water! If we get some heat after this, the garden will grow!

I DID get my daily wheelbarrow full of weeds before it poured! I'm in the flower beds now! They are BIG flower beds!

Of course I picked the only peonies that don't smell! Should've picked a lilac or 2 to go with!

I DO have some cards to share.

It's my son in laws birthday next week. He's a heavy duty mechanic.

Well, the picture is crappy, but it's pretty shiny in real life!

I made my nephew a grad card.

Then I made one for my mom to give to give my nephew, her grandson!

Then, because I had a plethora of stuff left over.....

I made Bryson a kindergarten grad card!

There you have it.

I have been making cards...that are part of kits.

Building up my stash!

The sun is shining!

Don't know if I should fall for that & go outside for another wheelbarrow full of weeds, or wait!

Stay safe.

Talk to ya later!

Try to be like the turtle-at ease in your own shell.~Bill Copeland

Good evening! I started this before 7am, and am just getting to it now!

I have done laundry, worked up my garden boxes, hauled $#it, made supper, and a cake, then I had enough so I showered!

I still have to go close up the greenhouse, but that can wait a minute!

I made 2 grad cards for my SIL's gramma. She needs them for the end of June. They are already on their way!

Hope the kids are happy with them!
I have sent Vanessa's birthday card too.

I have one more craft related picture, then you can get on with your day!

My Xyron needed a new cartridge.
I took it out carefully so I'd get the replacement in properly.
I ended up U-Tubing it!
Hahaha, must have taken me 20 minutes!

Facetime photos

Doesn't take much to amuse us!!

This munchkin is finished preschool!

This next picture is the greenhouse, with load bearing pool noodles!

The apricots.

Lavender is going in to the left.
The upright posts need to have the fencing put on for the loofahs & gourds!

The south side of the back fence is finished.
We also did the front & rest of the south side a couple Saturdays ago. I told Kalen he better use me before I'm usless!

My knee surgery is June 9th.

Fencing

It is 7.5 ft tall.
We're hoping it keeps the deer out.
Kalen run a strand of barbed wire at the bottom.
The contraption at the top is how we tightened the fence before tacking it onto the 4X4's
We are pretty sure the deer don't bother lavender, but we want to harvest the loofah & gourds.
Last year the deer even ate the tops off our potatoes!

Last picture.

First sour cream rhubarb pie of the season.
Today I made rhubarb bundt cake!

Yesterday I took mom to an appointment an hour away.
We(as in Kalen & I) are going to see what's available in town for seniors.
I said I would pay for 2 Meals on Wheels a week to be delivered if we have that.
Kalen & I will still make a meal once a week.
I also need to find out if someone does home visits, light house work etc.
We will be having "the talk' next time we're there.
The one where she wants to be independent; but isn't anymore.
It's not fair to all of us to go for a visit, and there's a mile long list of chores to be done. She has 2 sisters here too. One is 70, and one is about 64.
We all just want to do our own yardwork.
Then there's the worrying!
I am waiting for her to burn down the house. She has 2 wood stoves.
She hurts herself and can't remember what she did.
She missed Mother's Day, sleeping in her chair.
We had a lovely lunch, cleaned up, left her a plate of food in the fridge, and 2 desserts.
She stayed in that lazy boy chair for 4 days.
I called her and said, 'you know if you're sick, you can't go to your appointment.'
She said, 'Gail, I'm not sick. What I have is not contagious. I hurt my ankle, I don't know what I did.'
I said, 'did you fall?'
Mother, 'You'd think if I fell, I'd remember.'
But she doesn't.
We are telling her that if she ends up in the hospital again, they won't let her go home, because she lives alone.
She is very forgetful, gets disoriented.
We would like if she would move into an assisted living place.
She says I am living here while I can still drive.
And she shouldn't be driving.

Barb, don't you call & tell her.

Kalen is so stressed, and he's got 600 projects on the go.
He just wants to go have a visit with gramma, and a game of cards.
He stresses over her to do lists.

Anyhoo, have a great rest of the weekend!
I am sure these are first world problems!

Wash your hands & wear your mask!
Talk to ya later!

“When the past calls, let it go to voicemail, believe me, it has nothing new to say.” – Unknown

Hello!
I've been meaning to get on here 4-evah!!!
I downloaded my pictures this morning, went to do all my errands, and I'll admit, I then procrastinated!!
This post is picture heavy, as I have a lot of catching up to do!!

Alrighty, had my surgery.
This was the favorite (not) SIL sneaking pictures in recovery!
I requested a LARGE Starbucks coffee, and fries from Opa's after surgery, which was scheduled for 2:20pm May 18.
That folks, means no eating or drinking ANYTHING as of midnight the night before!
Haha, probably downed that in 3 gulps!

 My 19 was Vanessa's birthday!
Which call for a blue card with a dragonfly.
You can't see it, but the wings are shiny!

That Friday May 20, one of my bosses texted me before 6 am, and asked if I needed a ride.
I said "Do I?"
He said, "I don't think you're going to get anywhere."
I said I was ready, and walked outside to this!

I could hear the forest breaking with the heavy wet snow.
This was our yard at work!

These were the flowers we had put in the kid's garage.
Put them out for some sunshine on the weekend!

Then I left on June 3 for Kalen's graduation from Olds College.
He came & stayed with my aunt & I and we attended a musical event featuring Nice Horse! Pretty great evening.
The next day we went to Olds.

After he received his diploma, we posed for a picture, and I carried on to my moms.
The first sight of the mountains makes me happy!

Of course I needed to make cards for the graduates!
Yes there were 2 this year, on the same day!
Vanessa went to Sera's; I'm the surrogate grandma, and I went to Kalens.
This was Sera's card, sitting on top of the inspirational mug.

 This was Kalen's card.
I used my envelope punch to make the bow.
There was a great video on U tube.

I needed a birthday card for a friend before I left too.

I got home Sunday, just in time for the favorite SIL's birthday.
I made a fruit pizza which was a big hit.

 And a special cake.
We eat up at the SIL's grandpa's every Monday night, and he knows his grandson doesn't like sweets, so he says, "I have a watermelon, should I cut it up?"
Vanessa & I gave a resounding NO!
Vanessa said, "You'll see."

I made a pudding, cool whip frosting, and did a watermelon cake!
Remember the Dr. Suess cake a few years ago?!
This turned out a little better!
Oh, who am I kidding, it too was a big hit!

So I'm home for a minute!

Been to a few movies, The Jungle Book, the real one...Loved it!
Vanessa, Inge & I went to Mother's Day last Thursday......Loved it!
We've had Firepit Fridays, except when the Province wide fireban was on! We still got together!
Last night no one was around, so I went & drank wine with one of Vanessa's friends!
We're having a firepit in Vanessa's back yard tonight if it stops raining every half hour!

Decided to go to the Family Reunion next month; can't put my life on hold, just because my lawyer & Mr. Luck have everything else on hold!
My lawyer sends me a bill faithfully every few weeks, to 'top up my retainer' but nothing's happening.
I've also quit sending her cheques unless she sends me copies of everything she's billed me for.
Kalen told me I could write a book.
Told him I'd think about it!

I stayed with Kalen last Saturday night on my way home from moms.
We went to Drumheller, had Vietnamese food for supper, drove around, and popped in at Rosebud
We've penciled in a dinner theatre for next Spring!

At Vanessa's house they're getting the babies room ready.
I picked up the trim today.
They both had to work, so I sold the bottles, and picked up the base boards!

The trip to Kalen's grad, and moms' was the trip from Hell!
(She says with a smile on her face!!)
Because of my foot, yeah it's sore, and still swollen & bruised; also because I haven't been able to do anything but sit on my a$$, my sciatica nerve in my other leg started acting up! After surgery I filled a prescription for an antibiotic (strong) that I had to take 4 times a day.
Friday before I left I didn't feel good, and in my pointed head, I was thinking, holy moly these pills are 500 mgs each.
That's 2000 mgs a day!
I ended up in emergency Saturday.
I apologized for not waiting for the doctor.
I was nauseous, very emotional, and my foot felt like it was going to explode. I was in a lot of pain. Also, the sciatica didn't help!
They gave me a shot of Toradol.
I could feel it moving down my leg, and it stopped just below my knee, and I thought, COME ON!
I went back for out patients at 7:30 pm.
The doctor asked me who prescribed the pills,
and asked why I was taking them.
I said the surgeon, and I didn't know why I was taking them, did I have an infection, so I don't get an infection!?
Told me to quit taking them; when you take antibiotics, and your body doesn't need them they build up in your body and wreak havoc with your immune system! Oh Yay.....
Prescribed an amazing pain killer, and since my foot doesn't hurt like it did before the screws came out......
I've been doing more, walking more, and the sciatica has settled down since I got home! Yay me!
For now, because it is so swollen and bruised, I go once a week for blood work.
They can check for infection with BLOOD WORK people! Jeesh!

So that's it for me!

Better go trot up the alley!!
Hope everyone's well!
Have a great week, and what's left of the weekend!!
Talk to ya later!

Live your life and forget your age. --Norman Vincent Peale

It's been a while, and I won't give you any excuses!I just find it uncomfortable to sit without my foot up!
You're gonna have to read previous posts if you want to know about THAT!
If I flop on the couch, I go to sleep..........
I DID drag a foot stool in here, so I could get crafty!
And it's all right if you like sitting sideways! hahahaha
I DID get the graduation card made! FINALLY!

I made the tiny little book of  Dr. Suess quotes.

They went in this little pocket.....here,

The graduation caps paper are an insert.
Here's the inside.

And the outside!

I get my stitches out on Tuesday (a day early)!
Then I'm on my way.....to the Family Rebellion, visiting with my mom & son, back to High Prairie on August 25th for the graduation, and back to work on the 27!
I'll see Tuesday if I get another cast!
I kinda like the cast....I'm clumsy!
I've banged my toes several times on the metal bed frame...don't even ask!
I also have a humungous boot, so there's no pressure on the toes!
I'm not going to say I "LIKE" it, but at least I can walk....sort of!
I like the crutches for going 'fast'!

I'm supposed to be laid up...HA!....for 6 weeks, but when calling to book my 6 week appointment, found out the specialist is gone the whole month of September!
So I'll see him August 30 (4 weeks), get an X-ray, and he can tell me how it's going!
And what I do next!

I was at the dentist on Friday....I'm a sucker for punishment; he said it'd make a better story if I told people I was hurt when I crashed my motorcycle!

Vanessa came home for the weekend to make my life easier....she has!
Her and a friend cleaned my vehicle yesterday (it's a dust collector), I just need to get my stuff out there, and I'm ready!

Best Detailers....eh-vah!

We've watched movies (The Lorax...LOVED, Step Brothers.....NOT SO MUCH), cooked, she went shopping for me!

When I took the bottles out this morning, one of the bigger kittens had this!

Twice the size of a mouse, and when I got closer, he growled at me!

See the black tip on the tail....it's a weasel!
I've seen bigger!

It's so dry, here's a picture of a field that's been hayed.
Full of spider webs.

It's like that all over....it's kinda freaky!

Also in my travels I found a field of these!

I want to say they're houses for Leafcutter Bees, but I'm not sure!

Well, pretty sure that's picture overload for you today!
Have a great next couple weeks, and I'll talk to you when I get home!
Hopefully I won't be antsy anymore, and will do some challenges!

Talk to ya later!
Ta ta for now!
